I was wondering about the dirt for the new Cowboys Stadium. Right now they are setting up for a PBR event this weekend and they were showing them hauling in 2500 tons of dirt. It's not the same dirt they they used in the Texas stadium for years. They said it was rented for $60,000. I wonder if that is for the PBR event only or for the year? Anybody know? I was also wondering if they would use the same dirt for the SX in March? If so it might smell like bullshit! Anyway, someone is renting dirt and I'm thinking man, I wish I'd of thought of that!

They showed Stephen Jones of the Dallas Cowboys and he was talking about the Monster Truck event coming up and also the Motor Cross event. Yes, he said Motor Cross. I'm like whatever you idiot! But they didn't say if they were going to use the same dirt or not. Anybody know? It looked good. Looked like it'd rut up good in the turns and pack nicely for the jumps. Not like the concrete dirt they used for Texas Stadium for years.

Then I looked up the prices for SX tickets in Arlington. Oh my god! WTF? Examples; Section 121, Row 21 for kids 2 to 12 are $54.00 each. That was the cheapest I could find. More examples, Mezzanine $72.00 each. 40 yard line $123.00 each. Section 227, Row 9, $217.00 each! Crazy!!! I have also heard parking at the Stadium is outrageous but I couldn't find the prices online? I'm 30 minutes away and I think I'll be staying home and listening to it on line and I'd bet I'm not the only local thinking of doing just that. I could go to Houston for less. I don't know where this sport is headed but with prices like these in this economy I don't see how it can survive. I don't even want to know what food and drinks would cost there!

I do want to thank Live Wire (when it's working) and The Super Cross Live Audio Webcast because that's what I'll be doing here in my home when the race is only 30 minutes down the road from me. Screw Arlington and the Mayor that bought out and shut down Mosier Valley and I'll see you in Houston...

I hear parking is $30.00 and I'll bet a beer is $9.00 and probably nearly as much for a slice of pizza. Anyone else care to guess? Or maybe someone knows for sure.

I always get the $10 tickets and get the Speed Channel view (up top), so hopefully they still have those tickets.

Seriously, they film those races up in high location for a reason. Imagine if the races, or football games were filmed from the side line. That's basically the view people are getting when they fork over ridiculous amounts of cash for a front row seat. But hey, some people like watching guys hit triples all day long, so to each their own.

I'm going. I hope they use the jumbotron. That way you have a great view of the action from any seat.

Need to see if the local bike shop is selling tickets this year.

There are no $10 tickets for Dallas that I have seen anywhere. Parking is $25.

Ran thru options on Ticketmaster and there were 4 seat pricing tiers for adults:

Adults 12+
$55
$50
$45
$40

So cheapest seat is $40. Ouch.

Kids tickets 2-12 years
$27.50
$25
$22.50
$20

Cheapest available option for a family of 4 including parking, fees and taxes comes out to $185.60.

Not very family friendly for most...Way to go guys, you priced a large % of your key fans out of the sport.

Sad fact about these new super stadiums is the are so fucking huge and the seats are still so fucking cramped. Reliant Stadium's field appears tiny compared to the old Astrodomes baseball layout. Looking at them from the outside next to each other it looks like you could sit the Astrodome inside Reliant and close the roof. Lots of room on the inside for bars and lounges and $9.00 beer. How much was that double scotch out in Phoenix? $23.00????

so true! I was at the BOK center for arenacross, it looks so huge on the outside, but the track was tiny. They put way too much crap in the stadiums now.

I'd pay double those prices to get an SX only a half hour away.

Hell even a half days drive...

If you have had an sx since the 80s, (maybe even 70s) would you still be willing to pay double? Houston is one of the longest running SXs and Dallas has been around for as long as I can remember. Is it fair to quadruple the price just because the race went on a one year hiatus?

I couldn't believe how small the inside of Reliant was. Just barely enough room for the football field.

But, the Jones dome didn't skimp on anything I don't think. They want to hold World Cup Soccer there and the minimum field size is 110 yds by 70 yds.

I'm looking forward to seeing how an SX looks there. I may not go every year from now on, but, I'll be there this year.

I hope we get to see a 1.30 lap time in that monster stadium.
They will most likely be 49 seconds. SX has a way of screwing things up.

Dallas is looking like a very difficult and very technical track. But anytime a stadium has extra floor space they usually fill it with crap.

I'm not making excuses for the prices at the Phx SX it's a rip off too.

Ole Jerry has taken it up a notch maybe two and the rest will follow.

They are def out to find our threshold...but apparently they think that we will pay what NASCAR fans will pay. They forget that unlike them, we actually DO this sport, not just watch it---so we don't HAVE to pay to see it done.
As a side note tho, my chick empties out her purse, and stocks it with footlong subs and drinks to go with them. LoL
Also, I believe that diabetics can bring whatever they want in, citing doctor's orders/special diet...

They were almost like that when it held over 74,000.

This was the first year I went to Anaheim SX and saw many empty seats.........and my first race there was in 1977.

That was a very expensive stadium to build, They have to recoup it somehow. But no way am I Paying $72.00 bucks to watch SX.

My brother in law worked on the project as well. He is an architect type. No expenses were spared.

Didn't they use some eminent domain laws to get the land as well?

Yes, they booted folks out of homes that their families had owned for generations... imagine owning your home, paid for outright, retired and making it okay... they tell you that you have to leave, here's a nominal amount for your home and trouble... well at the time the housing market was booming and I suspect many of these folks were on fixed incomes... so now they have to find a new home and take on a mortgage. I'd like to see the statistics on how those folks have faired in the last couple of years. I suspect a good number of them have suffered where if they were still in their paid off homes they would have been fine riding out the recession.

The right thing to do if they wanted/needed that land so bad would have been to put those people in new homes, within reason, and ensure that they are in an equitable position to where they were before they were forced to move... don't have to make them better off necessary, just make sure they aren't worse off...

I didn't have a lot of respect for JJ before this... I have absolutely none for him or his organization now.

I'm out of work so I won't be paying those high prices. Like mt798, I'll listen from home, even though I'm 30 minutes away.
