He doesnt have his usual crew helping him do setup. Electrical problems as well? Not confidence inspiring.

His bike does look like shit. Hopefully he can figure it out by round 3 or he is screwed.

Yeah, real bad suspension. I'm pretty sure that's why he stalled on the grid.

Villopoto will need to adapt setup cause he rides on the back tire with a chopper like setup but on a good note I noticed marginal gains. He will figure it he is the champ for a reason.

I'll say one thing about DV, I pretty much agree with everything he says. He gets it.

I'm in shock

Agreed, generally I think DV is on point.

Though thinking about RV's A1 debut a few years ago where he crashed many times, a 7-8 opener is not bad. Especially with a combination of nerves, newness to the series/track/traveling/languages, and (possibly) very bad bike setup.

There is nothing magical about GP tracks that would cause RV to completely change how he rides a motorcycle. He has always been back low, front high, riding behind the bars, and it will work just as well over there as it did here. Sometimes when the rider is tired, the bike looks like shit.

Diferent, slower layouts

Diferent terrain preparation

Well, I got admit this: DV has done a sweet job of photochopping the hair off his head and putting it on his chin.

It almost looks real. Sort of like he put his hair on upside down just to see what it would look like. He's got that "Wooly Willy as the angry Skinhead leader" look down to a T.

I gotta learn how to do that stuff - bet you could have a lot of fun with it.

I think he had some mapping issues also. Bike would not start for shit, may have caused the stall as well. Its so fun being an armchair warrior.

I asked last year when he said he was going to race the GP's if maybe he would use WP suspension like another Kawasaki team did. Thier results improved after the switch. But of course I was ridiculed for even asking such a dumb question.

I really really respect DV opinion . I think he s one of those people who really knows what he is talking about . even little thing like dungey bars and leavers , look at a pic of them now from the start of the year , the bar s are a bit more rolled back and the leavers are deff up more .what DV was saying deff got back to RD . I often think why don't riders hire him as a coach , bit like RJ with bagget .

If I were him I wouldn't do any huge changes just yet. He is used to what he has and some major changes could be good, but they could be bad too. So he didn't do all that well, but its a start.

Cairoli didn't exactly set the world on fire either, and he definitely knows how to set up that 350. RV will be fine. Qatar is like A1...it's probably no real indication of how the season will actually pan out.

Its a shame it rained so hard in Valence. A wake up call there could have changed things.

RV got a wake up call today... there is no way he was expecting to finish 8th. I think it would have been wise for him to do 1 or 2 pre season races to get a feel of where things are at. Racing Tyla at the test track is not the same as riding moto's like his competition have been doing.

He's only a second or 2 behind each lap which is not that much speed to find if he dusts off the rust and gets the right set up. I wouldn't question his fitness or determination, he just needs to find the zone. Its a long season and its not that long ago I remember RV not doing so well in the first couple of supercross races and being written off.

One thing for sure, I had not heard of Romain Febvre until today (haven't followed the GP's closely for a few years) but I bet he's pretty stoked about catching and passing RV.

RV hasn't planned to ride in Valence, even with solid sunshine...

isn't Rv using guys who have raced over in Europe forever and not some guys from over here in the US.. if what DV says is true how can they fuck his bike setup that bad. also someone mentioned he doesn't look as fit but hes been on the bike for awhile now. what confuses me is he has been to Europe several times for the mxdn and had done well against the same guys with little or no time on the track

He basically said he was going to use his US stuff because he was comfortable on it. Might have to change some of that.
