DC, What is the official import numbers and dates please???

Edited Date/Time 1/27/2012 1:38pm
There is word of 50 units. But no official version, and things are crazy for you now. But question. Since TM has never raced a national race before, is it possible they could use their 1 time special to race 2010 motocross nationals? Just askin? It seems there were provisions made to accommodate certain companies. Can one be made for TM, Maico etc? Thanks

The best people to answer that would be Jeff Canfield (MX) or Kevin Crowther (SX) of the AMA.

Those rules are being "Adjusted" to help MFR's during the current state of things. Wink

Yes, we understand that, although it can help more than certain OEMs only.

Didn't Coop race a big husky one year?
That was a KTM 520 or 540. In one interview, Carmichael said something like "yeah, Cooper holeshot again on that KTM 800 or whatever that thing is..."

Thats a great question
the open class should be that, open to any kind of bike with the proper displacement
for example a service Honda 500 2 stroke should be able to race the nationals

I believe it was Houston or Dallas that Preston won on his Fast by Ferracci Husky.

Dallas SX 97 - Cooper had a Husky 510?. I think he just did that race because its close to home. He was the only Guy going for the small double in front of us in the mud so I remember it well (cased it half the time). Also he was the only one trying to ride a 4-stroke!

Houston.
I think 01.
GL threw it away on the last lap after he waved to the crowd over the triple.

thanks guys, I was almost positive I saw Husky's out there at one time. Alztimers at the age of 37 it seems. Anyways, I'm pretty sure the 400 units rule wouldn't have been applicable because they didn't have that many of that model? Anyways, question was sent to MXsports, I will let you know the answer.

this is correct. He also tried to huck the triple right below where we were sitting in one of the heats. He didn't make it.

Emig won that race running away and KW won the 125's. In the pits I asked KW if he thought he could do a heel clicker in the mud...sure enough he doubled the triple and clicked it.

I believe Preston got his win in Houston because Langston threw it away on 1 or 2 laps from the finish. It would have been Grant's first win in 125sx.

edit: I believe GL was on a KTM and it would have been their first win in 125SX as well...could be wrong.

That was GP racer Shane King RC was talking about, not Cooper.

Paul Veracka as well. I remember him breaking his wrist or arm that had a plate in it, bent the plate and held is hand up at a 90 degree angle... ugly.

The eligibility rules on equipment seem to be very inconsistent. I remember in AMA GNC dirt track racing, in '72 Harley was required to have 200 complete alloy XR 750's . They met the requirement, but only about 30% of the 200 bikes actually ran at the time the AMA came to inspect them. Many had no engine internals.

Then in late '75, Yamaha brought out the OW72 750 dirt tracker. They got it approved with only one complete bike, and 25 engines.
