Did the Niday's close down I35 for good then?
I35 is closed for now as far as I know. They have invested a TON in this new property. I hope it stays successful for a long time!

Good deal. There's some great dirt in that part of Texas. I've also heard about some new off road park in Midlothian but I hear that track is not that great?

This is good news. I always liked riding/ racing there. I rode there mainly from the day it opened until probably late 02, then 09ish on. The early days i rode there it seemed almost every day they were open. I liked the early layout when vp owned it. There was a big down hill double parallel to the dirt road, that rythem section after a table kinda down on the bottom, A whoop section before a 180 then a step down, lots of good times there. At their first race i thought i hit it big. It was a gp style start in the field because at that time there was no start area on track. I got 2nd in 250 novice on saturday, and got this 4ft trophy and 2 5 gal cans of c12. Sunday i got 4th in open novice, got a smaller trophy, but this time a vp gas can.
Tons of good memories at that track.
Wish that fly/ wps deal was there this weekend. Would be a good time.
How do you find out when they are open?

I've been following the changes on Facebook since they closed right before I bought my bike. I'm looking forward to riding there in two weeks hopefully since I have to work this weekend. The dirt looks amazing.

28 wasn’t actually a real factual number, it was just a number I picked out of the air

Why? Replicate the same layout and track prep that Cycle Ranch offered in the early years of it’s existence, and the place has a great shot at being the best track in Texas today.

Some good news for the TX Moto community, Cycle Ranch will re-open end of November under new ownership/management.
Local rider and businessman Todd Hewitt, has purchased the track and is looking to reestablish Cycle Ranch as the premier MX track in TX.

The track is undergoing a massive clean up of all the overgrowth from not being used regularly, as well as a track redesign. New layout, track widened to 30 feet and tons of dirt have already been moved.
The track is going to be laid out more like it was back in 2008-9, with a better Motocross feeling, featuring long fast sweepers, and an extended track length. The marque Finish Line Jump as well as HP Hill and the Catchers Mitt will remain. Track Changes will be ongoing to keep the facility fresh, safe and fun.

The track Grand Opening will be Nov 18-19
Facility will be OPEN EVERY WEEKEND with full prep, unless severe weather threatens to keep it closed.
Updates will be posted on Facebook and web site in the future.
9am - till close
$35 at gate - Cash Only
Are they actually gonna charge the rumored $5.00 spectator fee on top of the $35.00?

5.00 spectator fee is ridiculous. I️ guess they are trying to see how many people will not return after the opening of the ride day. So if a kid can’t drive himself his dad has to pay 35.00 for him to ride and another 5.00. That will be a deal breaker for a lot of people. Not to mention if mom and dad want to come. Not being negative Nancy but that’s a little over the top.

I gotta agree here. I understand that operating a race/practice facility is a financially complicated endeavor, but I would think that there must be another source from which to extract this needed revenue. Sure, charge the people that come purely to spectate but those that come through the gate with a paying rider(s) should be exempt IMO.

Just got home from riding at cycle ranch. Super soft dirt all the way around the track. The down sides of a few of the jumps were cupped out pretty bad. I got there around 1 so I missed all the perfectly groomed stuff, but it wasn’t dusty at all. I didn’t take any video this time because, well, I was to lazy to get the camera out of my truck.

How was the turnout? Sometimes it takes a new owner a while to figure out track prep.

The Fly Funday at Spoaks in Lockhart was killer. About 300 riders from all over the state. Great vendor turnout. It is a new old school type track almost all under oak trees. The ruts (which I don't usually like) formed up perfectly elliptical with about 5 line choices per corner. Having trails and track pulls a good mix which vendors are looking for. They had a holeshot shootout, 200 ft., best of 3 advances, 2 classes, it was big fun, I made it to the 2nd round and got edged out by the 2nd place finisher. I will visit Cycle Ranch soon, for those that haven't tried Spoaks, it will be worth the drive.

It was ok, but it was late in the day and from what I've noticed from riding at Murphy's is that it seems everyone gets there early and starts to roll out about noon-1ish. I think the most riders I saw on the track at one time was maybe 8? You could tell the track had a lot of bikes on it throughout the day. By about 3-3:30ish I was the only one out riding.

Spoaks is on my list to go ride as well as ADVMX and Innovative MX.

That's one thing that bugs me about this sport, we seldom get to know our fellow riders, or meet up with the ones we do know. It's hard to bump into everyone. I've got a few solutions to that problem I'm interested in pursuing.

I was at the gate with the owner Ken Wilson doing "exit interviews" with riders as they were leaving around 2pm.

Bobby, You may be in this video of photos? 1977 at Lake Whitney 500's with 125 support class. Either way it's cool stuff. 1. Stackable 2. Howerton 3. Smith 4. Hannah 5. Pomeroy

This guy David Lack has several of these put together from Tx races in that era and they are awesome.

It was the next year that I made my "pro" debut on the Montesa at Whitney and Rio. Great times when we were young.

Track was really good, changes are being made each week to improve areas. The dirt that everyone dreams about is for real and they did a good job working the dirt and keeping moisture in the ground. Check out their pictures on instagram and you will see how the track shapes up.
There were 150-200 people through the gate first Saturday. Track was awesome from 9- noon, I got in 3 solid motors before beer:30....

I have ridden Clints track before it became Spock's, lots of potential, but i love the dirt at Cycle Ranch... except that it stains everything... lol
