Have to agree; I'd keep the running one as is (other than putting fresh cables, tires, etc...) and I'd probably make the other one a dirt only bike. Put the generic number plate on it (lol) knobbys, and get it up to snuff and hit the trails on it.

Tempted to pick them up for my wife to learn on and fix the second one up for the kids to trade back and forth during college years.

When I was about 11, the neighbor twins got a pair just like that. Very cool find.

I never was a Yamaha fan. Not at all but I would love to have a pair of those. When I was about 10, me and 2 of my neighbor buddies all got in our garages and broke out our Dad's High School Bikes. Mine was a 1967 Suzuki B105P, One buddy had a Yamaha exactly the same as one of those pictured and the third was the race car of the bunch, he had a 78 XL 350. We had so much fun on those things. We would trail ride them on coal mine gob piles and strip jobs, ride all the neighborhood girls around. Just great times.
I remember that Yamaha well, with its spedo and Tach and a throttle that would twist almost a full circle. One time we couldn't get it going because the battery kept going dead. We put a car battery on the back rack and rode double. We came up the road trying to hit 60 before we ran out of room and the Tach pegged. We didn't make the turn, jumped a 10 foot ditch, hit the bank and cased it almost like casing a triple and came to a dead stop. I was on the back when the battery went flying over my head. It busted when it hit the ground and we had to find our balls, lug that thing across the ditch and then push it home. Man, those were good times.

Saw one of those sitting outside a motorcycle shop just the other day while I was driving home from work. It even had the stock fold-down handlebars, too.
