The Monster Energy U.S. Speedway National Championships are happening tonight at Costa Mesa. Anyone in?

I used to hit speedway races quite often, and haven't gone in a while, but I'll hit this one to check it out and get some photos.

You can't explain, in photos and words, just how much fun, and crazy, it is to go to Costa Mesa Speedway. I lived in the middle of the San Fernando Valley, and used to drive all the way down to the O.C. on Friday nights after work.

I loved Gene. That was a f&%kin crazy place. I don't believe in drunk driving, by the way.

There used to be a chant between the sides of the arena.

More beer...

More red snapper...

Guess you had to be there. Basically, it's like going to a party and a race breaks out.

Grew up at the speedway races with my dad. I always had a blast and was fun rooting for my top racers Sam Ermalinko (Sp?), Mike Faria, Brad Oxley and Bobby Schwartz. Man it has been years. To bad I am stuck in Alaska. Have fun and grab some pics GuyB.

What amazes me is how many of those guys are still at it. Faria and Schwartz are still riding. There's another Ermolenko in the program as well. Not sure how he's related.

Flying Mike Faria still racing? I was a huge fan of Brad Oxley when he was racing. I miss Saturday nights at the fairgrounds.

Speedway has always been a whiskey tango event, not to mention the women have also been commensurate to this status....

Speedway is super cool! Wish I could have been there for this. It's amazing how long some of these guys have been racing too.
