I get he wants the practice but is it smart to do right before mxdn, anything could happen what if he gets hurt who would replace him?

He could get hurt tomorrow during practice. Dirtbikes are dangerous. Smile

Yeah I understand that I just feel like it's the AC situation going racing over seas and getting hurt but I guess mxdn isn't as big of a concern for the factory teams if he did get hurt he could race east coast

ya i agree on racing leading up to MXDN should only help, nothing substitutes for racing but there is always that chance of injury. I really like the fact he wants to race, shows alot of confidence and commitment and will be awesome for us to watch.

Canard, Anderson, or Baggett would replace him.

it can be a great confidence boost for webb (not saying he is low on confidence) but it would re insure him and give him even more motivation. or he finds out what he needs to work on or maybe try to approach things differently for the mxdn.

great to see that jmart will race as well. he really could be a spoiler for the championship.

I am not a great tactician or anything but I think having an opportunity to race you competition prior to the MXDN is a pretty good choice... pro's far out weight the cons on this one!

I hope he does good the kid has talent for sure! The attitude I could do without but it makes the sport have some drama I guess lol. Any body know if AC222 will be racing mxdn or will he not be healed and have enough seat time.

When I was at washougal talking to Brett Cue he said BT101 was going to use his bike to race the USGP on.

Stoked, can't wait for this race, the lack of crowds will make it sweet for us local fans.

So true.

A lot of spot on comments so far in this thread.

He's a young guy and regardless of the outcome me thinks he "wins" by doing this in so many ways. Racing the USGP DOES help define you as an ambassador of the sport here in the U.S.. Not to get all patriotic and shit but he is giving back to the fans an opportunity to root for our own in a named international competition and the opportunity of notoriety can prove to be beneficial once the racing career is long gone. A racer races and all that other stuff works itself out.

100% agree there buddy! I'm sure he's going to be fast as hell , but it will be extremely cool to see " in person " his very first ride / race on a 450 in competition! It's a wise thing to do this , because it'll give him and the team both some ideas on what they'll need to work on before the big race. Are you still planning on making the trip?

Its a great idea to race it, unless he gets hurt, then its a bad idea.

He's going to turn some heads, and that home/familiar track advantage will be in play as well.

Good on Cooper to race it, I was quite disappointed when Dungey opted out. Although I fully understand why he did. It's not like he hasn't done overseas post-season races for the last six straight years after a 29 major-race schedule through two disciplines with maybe six weeks off in-between races a year only to go straight into Supercross prep in October.

I hope he doesn't fall... I hope no one falls... He's been on the ground 5 times in the last 3 nationals...
Now he's on a 450... I hope he keeps it on 2 wheels at GH....

Number one thing you hear a rider say is there's no way to practice race pace other than, you guessed it.. Lining up in the gate. Knowing his mechanic like I do, they want to be as prepared as possible. Looking forward to seeing the kid do battle.

It's a good opportunity for you US fans to watch him ride a 450, but don't trust any results, GH is the opposit of Ernee.

I don't understand why people say stuff like this.

Anything's possible and there's every chance that Webb could beat Febvre at Glen Helen, especially now the championship is wrapped up.

My thoughts exactly, They are all so fast, and racing on a U.S. National track, which many of you seem to think makes a huge difference, although glen Helen is slightly euro gp-ish IMO at least

It'll be a great event, guys like Webb are not going to want to get beat on home soil, but the GP guys are not going to want to get beat at a Grand Prix. I think if Webb can get on the podium then he should be pretty happy with that and it should give him some confidence to move onto the MXdN

im just glad that one of the top us riders is still racing! be good to see cooper line up against the mx1 guys, shame theres a lot of the top riders either missing or just coming back (cairoli/ desalle/ strijbos etc) but it will be great to see webb/musquin/ Anderson/pourcel etc on the gate against the rest of the gp regulars. Makes it more interesting for the spectators

Why race at all? Better sit behind a desk in an office.
