from RacerXOnline

Soon-to-be AMA #30 Kyle Regal has accepted an offer to ride as James Stewart's teammate on the San Manuel Yamaha team. Racer X confirmed with team co-owner Larry Brooks. In fact, Regal is headed out to California to sign and begin testing. Regal, fresh off of a great showing at the Red Bull Motocross of Nations, emerged from a tryout that included several other young riders. There was also long talks with Andrew Short, but he ultimately ended up with Red Bull KTM factory ride.

"There was one other place that I wanted to go really bad but with KTM, their future and the direction they’re going, I thought long and hard about it and went orange. It’s just that they are so successful everywhere else in the world and they want to win now here in America. They work really hard over here in order to be the best and that’s somewhere I want to be. For my future and my family, it was the best move and to be working with Roger DeCoster is something that I think will help me immensely. I’ve been fortunate to have interest from other teams and it comes down to business."

Shorty is a smart and virtuous man going with RdC and a coherent team for less money.

Regal had a good showing outdoors this past season, it would be nice to see him out there again next year.

I've been cutting hay all day but are you sure you guys have your information correct?
You people "Confirm" this with Kyle or his manager?

It would be a pity for Kyle not to do outdoors he has the speed to be top five in the series and a Podium finisher and a potential race winner.

I doubt Kyle will be skipping the outdoors.

Congrats to him for landing the gig with @ L&M. Kyle is a solid rider.

No wonder his Honda was void of any red last weekend. Kyle gets the shot he has deserved!

I didn't talk to Kyle's manager -- I didn't realize he had one -- but I spoke to Larry Brooks and he seemed pretty sure of it. Things can always go sideways I guess.

You didn't talk to his manager because he doesn't have a manager. Smile

No kidding! Regal is strongest outdoors, waist of young talent if it's SX only!

Didn't Chisolm (spelling) ride the outdoors a few years back after riding with L&M for supercross?

Regal seems like he really loves the outdoors, I would be surprised if he doesn't race the nats.

Then again, I don't know the kid. It certainly would be a loss for the nats, though. Great team for supercross...I guess the correct thing to say is congrats.

Congrats to Kyle and the family. I have seen first hand how hard he works for it and to see where he was 3 or 4 years ago, till now is just incredible.

j100... always trying to cut Kyle Regal down. Just because your boys don't have anything for him, I guess I can understand. It just gets old

Great for Kyle but I was hoping for a SX guy like Stroupe.
