Just three days from now the two giants of the modern game will take it to the track together for the first time other than in the Motocross des Nations in what is truly the "Clash of the Titans". Others such as Jeremy Van Horebeek, Clément Desalle, Gautier Paulin, Max Nagl, Tommy Searle, Shaun Simpson may still grab the limelight in 2015, but the hype is all about the confrontation in MXGP of eight times World Champion Antonio Cairoli and ten times AMA Champion Ryan Villopoto. Each has an astounding career and has won more than half of their starts in championship racing through the last five years.

Antonio Cairoli

GP starts: 167 (2x 125cc, 69x MX2, 79x MX1, 17x MXGP)
GP victories: 72 (24x MX2, 39x MX1, 9x MXGP)
GP podiums: 120 (42x MX2, 62x MX1, 16x MXGP)
GP moto wins: 144 (54x MX2, 75x MX1, 15x MXGP)
GP points: 6623 (2594x MX2, 3282x MX1, 747x MXGP)
World Titles: 8 (2x MX2, 5x MX1, 1x MXGP)

Highlights:

Six consecutive World Titles (2009-2014), equals the record of Stefan Everts (2001-2006)
Has won at least one GP in 21 of the 23 countries where he has started; the only exceptions are Qatar and Japan, in each of which he has won at least one moto
Has won more than half of his starts on KTM - 43 of 80 GPs and 80 of 159 motos
Became the first rider to win a moto of the Nations on a 250F in 2006

AMA titles: 10 (3x Lites, 2x 450, 1x SX Lites, 4x SX)

Highlights:

Four consecutive SX titles (2011-14), equals the record of Jeremy McGrath (1993-96)
Has never lost an AMA MX series in which he has remained free of injury
Only missed a 450 outdoor podium twice in his entire career
Has won 67 of 132 starts in the last five years
Has never been on a losing side in the Nations and won his class on all four occasions; beat the 450s twice at Budds Creek 2007 on a 250
