Choosing Spring Rates? Is one step noticeable?

My new CRF250 comes with a 5.3 shock spring. What if the online spring calculators say to use a 5.4. Is that a noticeable difference in feel on the bike? Or not worth changing. What about a 5.5? Ive never done much for back to back comparison so I really don't know if spring rate changes are noticed in one step or not. This is for VET Intermediate level.

If the static sag and rider sag are within 'correct' limits, you're fine.

When I did my CRF I did one spring rate and I couldn't really notice anything until I started doing moto's. With the correct setup for your weight and ability you will notice a huge difference with just one spring rate.

I went from a 55N/MM to a 54N/MM on my RMZ450, which reduced the free sag by 7mm while maintaining the same rider sag.
I noticed a difference, and a very positive one at that.

What are your rider sag and free sag numbers with your current spring?
