Any one remember these fully automatic Works HRC CR prototypes? They experimented with them in 1990 but never saw production.

This one is very interesting. THis was supposed to be the 2006 KX450F. A catastrophic frame failure on the prototype though made Kawasaki go back to the drawing board and redesign the bike.

Many of the manufacturers have tried these radically lowered shocks over the years to try and lower the mass.

Awesome man, thanks for posting! I love looking back on all of these.

I wonder how much different that RMZ prototype would feel compared to Dungey's bike today.

Also, wonder if any manufacturers are playing around with electro-magnetic shock dampening like Cadillac and Ferrari are using now? Would be pretty cool to have the ability to download different valving programs for different tracks just like you have with the engine controller. Although I'm sure Dungey wouldn't want anything else electric on his bike at this time Blink

Any pics of the early /mid 90's Yamaha with the leaf spring, rotary shock rear suspension?

I have seen those unsided shocks before. Someone riding in the British Nationals rode with em one year, also on a Kawasaki (I don't remember the name). I wonder how well the shock actually works?

I'd like to see what their solution was for putting that bike on a stand! Pinch

This one is very interesting because the CR is obviously a 92 model but Honda has discussed it as a 91 CR250R

the under shock on the kawsakis looks cool but id be willing to bet that the seals would get chewed up rather quickly..no?

would hate to case a jump with that setup and land on the frame..

The twin cylinder version of that CR125 has to be one of the trickest dirt bikes ever made.

This bike was super trick! I don't remember if they said how good it was or not?

Very interesting design and engineering here.

I think it may have been Stephen Sword.

Actually that was supposed to be the 2005 KX450F, supposed to follow the 2004 KX250F. Ended up not coming out till 06 because of the issues that you mentioned.

Sorry, OCD.

This bike and the prototype for the RMZ450 both had their debut at the 1st round of the Japan Nationals at Meihan in 2004. I have some pics somewhere. IIRC, they each had at least one moto DNF that day.
