Chad needed this weekend, as we head to Anaheim. He's always been an emotionally driven racer, and that's not a bad thing. His performance in Sydney shows a renewed comfort in his machinery; there's a "something's feeling right" factor going on in this interview. When he's "on" he wins, so bring on Anaheim!

btw, has anyone heard him discuss the new Yamaha and what it's like being back where it all began? Very curious to know more about the experience so far, seems like a good thing.

The only thing he needed over the last several years is to ride near the edge. Every time he did that he got bit....Plus he won't do it when his bike is not just right. When he does, he is almost unbeatable. Not sure his age has caught up to him yet for a 20 lap sx race. Its his mind that is old and has alot to lose. We'll see which chad lines up this year, but I don't think you can fix his problem.

Chad's not done yet. Like it's been said before he's a very "mental" rider, but when he's comfortable, confident & "feeling it"...he's damn near impossible to count out, or even beat. He's looking like the "old Chad", and the Yamaha seems to work for him too (which shocks me a little). I think the Aussie SX did wonders for him, showing more to himself than to anybody else, that he can run with and beat fast young bucks like Webb. I don't believe he's in for another championship, but I can sure see him with a possible overall and several podiums.

Well stated, I agree. If he's warring at the front for points in a title chase, anything is possible. I like how this seems to be a very positive entrance to 2016. An entertaining story as we approach the series.

He is trying to get a deal together with Yamaha and you're surprised he has nothing negative to say about the bike at this point? Come on. I'm a Chad fan too but at this point everyone is having their best preseason ever and on the best bike they've ever ridden.

Hope he battles up front this year in SX but there's a ton of really quick guys already up there that are gonna keep him honest! I just hope more than anything they all stay healthy.

I think chad has had so much on his plate the last few years with the team. This year he is doing the right things. I think he knows it as well. Being out in Cali with the shit hard pack dirt and all of the young hungry guys like Webb, Martin, etc. This allows him to setup his bike for the tough conditions as well as trigger his mindset long before the season starts. I think we will see a more aggressive reedy this year and I am hoping that he stays healthy. Any series with chad in the hunt is going to be better. Awesome to see him on blue again and everyone who rides one knows the bike is awesome. Stoked

His come from behind win at one of the Anaheims two years ago by passing all the top players was one of the best supercross races ever. He's still got "it" for sure for race wins and I hope to see him on the line at A1.

Yeah but everyone didn't just win the first night in Sydney this past weekend.

He doesn't look like he is down to his fighting weight just yet...I don't see him being 100% confident at the moment.

I'm confused how you're confused about what that question meant. I'm about 99% confident that Uptite is asking who got second at the Sydney SX.

I feel like Chad Reed on a stock YZF450 has more confidence than on his kxr/crf/whateverf. He's just a blue rider through and through. Oh and his goofy 360 cam.

Not sure if this question is legit or sarcasm. Yes Chad got 2nd on the last night, is that the point? He won Saturday. Either way, he's feeling good and nothing wrong with celebrating that.

The point is that the competition wasn't as fast as the supercross series.

Didn't he get a bad start and crash? And still passed Webb on the last lap? Sit down with all your negativity and take your keyboard elsewhere.

exactly! and Webb's presence aside, Chad performed very well in front of the Australian crowd, on the brand that brought him fame and success, so believe it, the win is a nostalgic, underdog victory that is just the stress reliever a guy like Chad needs as he enters the season. it's a cool thing, let's enjoy it...
