It's a cool conversation piece, but does that seem a little steep for a bike that is technically "used" and has a stock motor if your plans are to actually get it to ride?

That was my first thought.

It was a display bike, never ridden. How much are they asking stock now a days? 8,300? I don't think the price is too bad

Ya I think msrp is around that, but is anyone really paying that? I'm asking because I honestly don't know. It could be a good deal, but I'm not a great judge of that because I haven't purchased a new bike lately. just seemed a little steep to me if it's for anything other than a novelty.

You can buy any new 450 for low 7000's. If you add on the 3k in accessories, you're only saving about 300 bucks over buying it off the dealer floor set up exactly the same. That bike is a couple grand high IMO.

Yeah, but Chad probably sat on it so a fan boy can sniff the seat in private

The only real savings is time saved on aftermarket parts being procured & installed professionally. Cool bike. If I had $10k burning a hole in my pocket...

How much do you think it costs to disassemble that bike, powder coat the frame and swing arm, then reassemble the bike?

I would charge at least $1000 to do that.

It cost way more than $10k to make a bike like that. Someone will make a lower cash offer and get a sweet bike.

You'd really charge more than $1,000 to pull a motor from the frame and strip it down? The powder coating is pretty inexpensive. I got my frame powder coated for $125. That leave $875 in labor. And to tear the bike down took less than an hour when it was brand new. Reassembly wasn't all that tedious of a process either.

The point is that it would cost you close to $10K to replicate that bike, or you could buy it straight from Chad and know that it was put together by one of the best mechanics in the biz.

I would take it and race it. Not cool enough to become a display bike but definitely something I would race. Probably do better on the resale since I'm sure there are plenty of kids out there who would pay a hefty premium for this without thinking about how much it would cost to duplicate it.

It doesn't say it was put together by Lars, some intern probably put it together...

I would buy it for asking if i had the money. Yes you can save $500 by doing it yourself but its Chad Reed's bike assembled by an A-list mechanic

What does it matter who put it together. It should be torn back apart to make sure Lars greased it. After 10-15hrs you would be tearing back apart to service anyway.

It's a stock motor with a few bolt on enhancements. Someone with minimal mechanical skill could install the items that are on this bike with little to no risk. Not to mention that it should come apart anyway to be greased. And after a few hours of riding, it'll be apart. Unless the mechanic comes with the bike, their assembly of a stock bike with some bolt-on's adds little to no value.

As with most things on here, I'm already regretting that I posed a debatable question, haha

Is everyone glossing over the anodizing? That's not free I'm guessing.

Maybe that's why nobody has paid me to powder coat their bike? Laughing
