Probably real. I have his from New Orleans SX from when on 250'F. I'll have to count the wins on back of mine. At the track now. DownSouthMX in New Iberia, La.

Could be real. Reed wore 103 his first year on a 125. He had 6 SX wins and 1 outdoor win.

I'd say the jersey is legit. Most folks that would fake a Reed jersey would make it #22.
I remember seeing him running the #103 at Atlanta his first season here on the 250f Yamaha. Having known of most all of the US amateur prospects during that time I was dumbfounded. I remember thinking who the heck is this guy? Some guy from the states that caught fire late in his amateur career? A Jon Dowd type of story?

The name Chad Reed sounded like he could be from Alabama just as easy as Australia. It wasn't till later in the night that I heard them say he was from Australia.Grinning Been a fan ever since.

Back looks legit. What other logos are ironed on it? Pic of the front?

This would be an early Reed signature it and looks pretty damn close to the one on the jersey.

Same with the logos on the sleeves? I say it's real. Here's the signature on my Reed jersey. Quite a few years later.

My only question would be why all the sponsor logos are sublimated but the back is iron on. I suppose there could be a few reasons for that depending on if they sold replica jerseys without numbers or because they just had team gear and ironed on the back for everybody separately. I'm no expert but it looks real to me.

I think you're probably right, it was custom team gear I believe.

Looks fake! Box it up and mail it to me ASAP! Tongue

J/K...not about the mailing part though...

Didn't the AMA reserve the numbers in the low 100's like 100,101, 102, 103 etc for GP riders that would make appearances in the US in the late 90's and early 2000's?

I'm sold on it being real. As far as I know, they don't sell replica jerseys with the AMA logo's and I know they don't sell replicas with the "race wins" markings. These are some of the things I look for when checking out jerseys. I've been collecting for years and have a lot of older jerseys with have iron on and half sublimated logos. If this was on eBay I'd have no problem trusting that it's real.

Races were 250 and 125 back then.

AMA USA 1st 250cc race he wore #103 at A1 Jan 5th 2002?
He raced West 125 class and finished 17th, then he raced some 250cc rounds and switched to 125 east.

I thought I remember him in 5th from the stands.

I was watching him hauling ass.

Jersey looks real and I want it, are you selling it?

Albertyn wore 111 to signify his three time world champion status when he came to the USA. Tortelli rode with #103. 125 World Champion Alessio Chiodi rode with #109. There are obviously many more. Can't say if the numbers were reserved or not.

Believe the first one is from A1 2002. Think it was his first SX race in the US and he rode the 250 Class then switched to 125/250F class for East Coast.

I have a Chad Reed jersey #103, I think I got it 2002. Washougal Reed lost the silencer off his bike in the woops, hopped the fence and grabbed it. Reed took off his jersey, signed it and traded for the silencer.
