Up til 2009, i wasn't a fan of reed. but he has a heart of a champion
I dont see why nobody considers him a title threat. Yes, James is faster most of the time. but James does have a tendency to throw himself on the ground..
Chad:
2002 - East Coast Champion
2003 - 2nd (World SX Champion)
2004 - 1st
2005 - 2nd
2006 - 3rd (battle til the end)
2007 - 2nd
2008 - 1st
2009 - 2nd (battle til the end, and AMA MX Champ)
James:
2002 - 3rd?
2003 - West Champion
2004 - East Champion
2005 - Injured
2006 - 2nd (World SX Champion)
2007 - 1st
2008 - Injured (24/0 Outdoors)
2009 - 1st

James has either won the title, or gotton hurt.
Chad won, when ricky wasnt there, and when james wasnt there. but he has always been right there! If James stays on 2 wheels then we can see him get atleast 10 wins this year and a championship. Chad will put up a fight the whole way though, and never crash trying.
RV has had some bad luck indoors, besides 07 where he won almost every main.
Lets hope for another season that comes down to the wire!

Ferry also wore those long JT pants that year outdoors, and man were they ugly.

I reckon...

There'd be 50% less threads at Vital if Chad Reed didn't ride...

Carmichael won it the following year by going 8 for 8. RC, JS and Mac all go out and try to check out and win. Reed's strategy is consistency. It worked in 04 and 08 so its not a bad strategy. But he has zero chance of winning the title if the faster guys stay healthy with that kind of strategy.

Funny, I thought that was RC's idea when Reedy was winning out what 7 or so in a row?

The difference is RC had already built up a lead in the series by checking out early in the series.

Are you that clueless?

Were you even a fan of mx back then? Based on your post I have to say NO!!!!

The reason RC had that lead was because reed crashed twice after passing rc twice in one race. RC even said the only hope he had in that race was if reed crashed. Reed ended up about 16th (?) or so.

Also, that year everyone was hurt which helped RC because he crashed a few times and was lucky enough to not have much top 5 talent left to battle back to 2nd with.

Next time I hope you do a little research before you post.

I'm more of an RC fan then i am a Reed fan.....but i gotta give credit where credit is due. Anyone who counts out Reed for the championship is completely clueless! He IS one of the best SX riders of all time.

Ditto...

He looked like he could do anything on the YZ250... But didn't adapt as well as the other two to the four stroke...

2004 would have been the same result I believe...

People forget... Reed dropped a ton of points in 03 at Minny...Lost his seat...

And started 2005 17 points down when he dnfed the first race and was credited with like 17th due to a front brake mechanical... If you gave him 20 points there it might have been different later...

And in 2006... Would Reed have ridden differently if the AMA had have given RC his points back immediately instead of a round or two later... Maybe...

People somehow on here forget or ignore or don't know that the last half of the 2003 SX season Reedy had Ricky covered and it would of happened again in 2004

Reed was the man on the 2 stroke, he jumped to the 4 and didn't look the same.

It looked like he was riding pretty conservative in Brisbane, just doing what he had to do.

He looked as if he would have been able to click it up a gear if he was challenged at any time.

A1 will be good, there is no way Chad will be letting James go.

I didn't say that Reed didn't crash .. My point is, he had a lead built up (regardless whether it was from whipping Reed or from Reed crashing) and RC was on cruise control the last half to preserve his points.

Next time I hope you do a little closer reading before you post.

RC wasnt anywhere near cruise control. He was getting his ass kicked, plain and simple.

I don't think Reed liked te 05 YZ250 because of the Aluminam frame or any of the YZ450's except maybe the 08. He looked alot better on the Suzuki last year and raced with James alot last year where James would just Check out before. James won the majority of the races but some could have gone either way. The first couple of rounds last year Chad was faster even if the results don't show it. Go back and watch the races where Chad is catching James at the end. I don't think James was adjusted to the bike yet.
