I know he was racing and it was unintentional but he definitely gained a little advantage over Stewart by skipping that jump section.

I don't think it was enough of an advantage to warrant a penalty.

On a related note, I think a 2-2 should still beat a 1-3.

id say with stewart still taking the overall it will be let go, however it would have been an interesting call had trey took it

Winning a moto > Not winning a moto. 1-3 should beat a 2-2 any day. Don't fix what isn't broken.

Still that is 2 points that Stewart should get. If they are going to let Alessi race moto 2 at Washougal and then dock both motos points they should at least dock Canard a position.

Exactly my point, they fixed what wasn't broken when they switched it to the current system.

I just think it is stupid they docked Alessi points in a moto that the offense didn't happen. I understand taking away first moto points but not second. Anyway that stuff is over with and beside the point

I don't think anything trumps the stupidity of the recently switched "holeshot" points "system"... WTF!

Again, must be "for TV" right?!

the theory is that winning a moto should carry a lot of weight, therefore the 1-3. cant remember when they changed it, it was a while ago.

i once won a race at my home track with a 2-3, that was a wild day. some baffoons tried to protest it and the referree said he wasnt going to allow the protest, it was basic math.

Changed what? The way they score motos has been the same for decades. 45 points still beats 44 point.

Motocross should be scored the way it was scored originally .............. In which case a 2-2 beats a 1-3

But I'm old..............

Canard was in front of James when he went off, only gained some distance. These off track excursions are a tough call.

If it was scored by moto finishes and not points, the winner (2-2) of the first race of a season would be second in the championship to the rider who finished second (1-3 or 3-1). This is the only reason why I think it should be left the same. The rider who gets the most points on the day shouldn't be second.

im only 27 years old and i remember when it was 25 championship points for an OVERALL win, none of this points per moto crap. In those days a 2-2 beat a 1-3 every freakn time. . . Anyway, im pretty sure they have not been scoring the way they do thes days for decades as you seem to believe, my guess is it's been about 10 years now since it changed

The part that made it bad was the block pass, basically stopping all of James momentum, followed by blowing through the turn and thus going off the track and around the a rather long jump(appearing that way on video)!!! Still, nobodies butt hurt at the end of the day so... itzzzzz all good.

And if Stewart went 2-2 and Canard went 1-3 would the same bleeding hearts argue that Stewart should've got the overall? I think not. Why all of sudden argue a points structure that's been in place for a long time.

I'm unbaised toward either rider, just glad they gave us a great battle to watch.

I'm a big fan of canard. And though I have no doubt it was unintentional
It did seem to give him an advantage .
I don't know what he could have done after the fact to change it or make it fair tho ?

And I definetly think it would have been a big shit storm if it had given trey the O/A
