A friend was a rep for Tachyon and hooked me up with a camcorder. Used it for the 1st time last weekend. Need to raise the recording area up a little

Are you looking for a helmet cam?
If not, check out the Canon 7D.

I don't think a 7D would be considered an inexpensive camera though

Contour HD. Awesome camera, doesn't stick up/out like the Hero and it has a really cool GPS option. I highly recommend it!

GoPro for helmet cam stuff.

Flip cam for easy, inexpensive OUTDOOR use. *No good in low light.

Like taking a picture. But not a go pro. A camera that can also record.

I'll sell ya a Panasonic dvx-100b, been used for many vurb moto, racerx and my own personal films. You won't find a good cheap video camera new. Somthing good is $3000 plus.

Find yourself a used Canon T2i. Identical video and resolution capabilities as the 7D. A little slower autofocus, but it's workable. I have a T2i with a kit lens... It doesn't compare to some of the rigs the pros have on here, but you can learn to shoot pictures and video. You should be able to pick one up for less than $800 with a few lenses.
