Luck is opportunity meeting preparation... what I mean by that, is Luongo probably had something to do with it, in a back-alley, cash in a briefcase sort of way. Timing like this doesn't just "happen". We will never know the truth behind that though. Can you imagine if the other teams found out that Luongo fronted 50% of RV's salary or something like that? Holy crap that would blow the top off the MX world.

Sounds like Tony is ready for the challenge. May the best rider win. Good luck to both guys and the rest of the field who are also competitive.

Meh, start money has been paid to top riders for decades now. The check will just have more digits to the left of the decimal point today than it did years ago. From Luongo's standpoint, it's a logical business investment and likely a tax deductible one at that. IE- I'm toying with the idea of getting the year long GP online package and can't be the only one that has gone from having minor interest in the GP's to quite a bit. Every GP sponsor has to be salivating and anyone who's contract is up for 2015 should expect a larger fee in order to advertise with them.

if everyone is healthy this is going to get really exciting. The top guys have been getting closer and beating cairoli from time to time. As said a helthy cairoli, desalle, paulin, RV, van horebek, bobryshev is going to be awesome racing! Big props to RV for doing this!

Even though I'm a fan of RV's......I can't help but cheer for AC222 as well. The guy is a class act and just a total badass on a bike. One of my all time favs for sure. I hope those two have some epic battles and neither one of them has an easy or walk-way type season. Going to be fun for sure.

I've been saying all along that outside of RV himself, Luongo is the one that REALLY benefits from this...this is HUGE for the GP's...hopefully RV negotiated a revenue sharing contract with Luongo...the American fan interest in the GP's ALONE is going to be HUGE!!!!

I would love to see RV's bank account balance when he finally retires from the sport.

^^^This
This pretty much just gauranteed me getting a season subscription to Youthstream.
Slightly off the subject, I think this is one reason why Thomas Covington is staying to race the GP's. I know his plans were announced quite awhile ago, but I think his pops and Monster are a big factor as to why RV will be there.

I'm going to go out on a-very thick and very short-limb and say that its his investment portfolio and his fame that got him that...not his looks.

Yet another example of the guys who actually do the racing showing more respect and professionalism than the keyboard warriors around here could ever muster. AC is an asset to the sport and I am looking supremely forward to seeing two of the best in the world do battle. May the best man win. Oh, and by the way, who gives a shit what pile of soil they happened to be born and raised on?

There's always the possibility that he treats her wonderfully, makes her feel incredible, is a total gentleman and does all the little crap that us "normal" guys seem to forget to do after the initial dating phase is over. In other words, she may well love him regardless of his $ and fame. We really don't know (personally I don't care either).

Back on racing- I really hope it is a great and exciting series with RV emerging as the champion. Smile

He might...but lets not forget he's one of the best riders in the world...with that comes ego, competitiveness, arrogance, attitude, ridiculous drive, extreme focus, and whole lot of selfishness...so probably not. But maybe...and if so, I like him even more! lol

That should be a LAW.

Every single current champ in 450 USMX or 450 MXGP should race the next year overseas!!

What has to be back alley about using money to get talent in your series? He should have done this in 04 or whenever it was Stew was going into his newest contract with Kawi after coming off the small bikes.

Love or hate them, YS is the only series positioned to buy talent away from SX. Bringing talent into your series is the essence of promoting; it's probably the single biggest thing YS can do to boost the series prestige in the general public.

And in fact it does boost the series' prestige. I can't say, as I have for many years, that the Nationals here are better for guys like Roczen coming here and not say that it's not a solid accomplishment by YS to get RV over, however they managed it and however much RV may or may not gave wanted to go but for his contractual entanglements.

I firmly believe our 250f class is far stronger than yours though Wink
