Just read an article over on MXLARGE on Antonio Cairoli's MXdN race and the last lines of the article Antonio said,

"Everybody has been asking me about my holiday, but this year we don't really have time for a nice holiday. I'm really busy the next few months, and I will start training for Supercross in two weeks."

Watch the video. Right side "Bercy News", click on Cairoli "Bercy Avanti!"

I think Cairoli is one hell of an outdoor rider. With that said, if he were to ever race our supercross series, he would be sidelined with injuries the majority of the time.

He says in the video that he's trying to work it to do, "some races over there."

Before seeing him ride at the MXDN I felt the same as JMar. Not so much any more. I have a feeling he will be just fine in SX.

That just adds to the excitement for SX! With his style and getting to ride with Marvin, I think that he'll get up to speed quickly

GP circuits are so technical now that the top five in each class could race SX. I wouldn't be surprised to see Cairoli get some top five finishes in the AMA SX races he runs. Technical wise there are not too many better than AC.

What? Cairoli will do fine, he more than likely has a supercross style track that he practices on.

His timing is impeccable and his line selection would make SX exciting to watch again.

He is talking about doing a select handful of those AX's they call SX's overseas, and a couple of US events. (Daytona, anyone??)

Technically I am not even sure Dungey is better, but I doubt that Cairoli would come even close to guys like Reed, Dungey, Villopoto and Stewart. I think he has a chance to run with some of the others though.

Dungey is on a roll and momentum is something that he has on his side. Mentally he seems stronger than anyone at the moment.

I agree.....I think AC would have a blast doing some SX races in his spare time. it will do nothing but improve his riding abilities even more. Plus he'll get a taste of what they are like. I could see him doing some top 5's easy once he gets the hang of it.....and maybe 1-2 up on the box depending on how quick he adjusts to the race format. AC is FAST....and will be FAST on anything he decides to race if given enough time. I really hope he comes over and does some SX....I'd love to see him out there.

Cairoli is an awesome rider and a Champion, he would do just fine.

I hope he does come over here for some races.

Where are our resident speculators?

Pick the three most prestigeous SX events on that side of the pond, and fill in the blanks with two or three US rounds.

Bercy will tell us a lot when he comes up against Canard and Barcia. Will be nice to see if Musquin and Roczen can match the top AMA SX guys.

1 point for Geoff. Bercy will HAVE to be one of the "Euro" dates. It's before the US series begins so the calendar is still wide open there.

Which will be his other choices? Geneva? Stutgart? Sheffield?

i am a fan of tony's and i hope he does make it to some races this year but i think top 5 is too high of expectations . think about the depth in the 450 class next year .... thats a tough class to break into the top 5 !

Thanks, johansen! Good stuff. Ridiculous fortune telling rules this board.

I like Cairoli, and wish him well, but we will just have to wait and see.

I agree...

But what will be interesting to see is how the 350 goes. Could it be the ultimate Supercross machine?

New's flash!

That isn't a supercross track. That's someone's version of a supercross track that they built to train on.

He modeled his riding style after MC just enough that I think he'll do OK. The only issue I see is the pace. He may take a couple of races to get used to the balls-to-the-wall pace Supercross demands straight out of the gate.

I am guessing but I imagine Geneva and Genoa. But I have no clue. I know Canard mentioned three races in his RacerX interview, I bet Cairoli does those three. Bercy, Genoa and I thought Geneva. He will have some fun in the AMA Supercross, it's not his plan to go there and win, just have fun.

AC has a lot of respect in my book,he doesn't mind taking things on,Canard and Barcia will always be favourites but it'll be great to see both GP champs complete as well as Roczen etc,the tracks are not like in the US but if AC gets across to do some AMA then fair play for giving it a go and Roczen too,all the better for us I say..

And if that ain't a SX track then my cock's a Kipper! Where was the last time you saw a set of whoops that long on an outdoors?? Tongue
