Get a hold of the cell phone number of the programming manager for your local CBS affiliate and pass it around. Have everyone call and politely let him or her know that they are unhappy and want to see the SX. The first race was not shown (it's not really preempting because Sunday morning is totally up to what the local station wants to show), but by Thursday they'd reversed course and decided to show the rest of the SX's because everyone called him. They think nobody is watching it. Let them know otherwise. Or maybe they saw everyone on here ranting about how awful the race was on CBS and decided they didn't want to air a program everyone hates, and they put an infomercial on instead.

same thing happened here when MX was on NBC last summer. King5 played cartoons instead.

CBS is not a step forward, no additional exposure is gained. especially in this case.

Speed is the best !

Oh how quickly we forget. Remember when the races weren't even on the tube? And this year we have more live events than ever! Not too bad in a crippled economy if you ask me. Hang in there. It will happen someday. CBS is not the bad guy.

Found some stats from last year...
Average households per CBS broadcast: 793,444
Average household per SPEED broadcast: 160,205

Speed is best for the hardcore fans like US... CBS is best to make the sport more popular and get more oustide $$$
It's not like CBS is harassing Feld to get the race... it's the opposite... so it's a good thing for the sport overall.

Try looking later in the day. Xfinity here in NorCal has the races showing 2pm CBS and 3:30pm on Speed. At least that's where it was last night.

The big three TV channels, NBC, CBS, ABC, they all suck. Cable has kicked their ass.

And yes, SX on CBS is a f*#king joke. I just wait and watch the main on Youtube

What was the reasons again for it being "good for the sport" that SX should be on a major network?

Yeah, it was Kansas City I was talking about. I got a phone call and left out half a sentence.

Here's the post from the Missouri State forum that explains what happened:

I just happened to get Dale Jacobson's cell phone number, program director at CBS local channel 5.
I called and let him know my displeasure concerning the pre-empting of the supercross Sunday.
I encourage others to call as well.
PLEASE be nice, Dale needs to know that we are not satisfied with some of the programming. But on the same note we (the motorcycling public) need to be seen as a reasonable group of people. Not as a bunch of jerks.
This is Dale's number 816-591-2646
Thanks, Mark Mitchell

UP DATE AS OF 2:40 P.M. Monday January 23 2012

Dale just returned my call and informed me that the "omission of the race sunday was a mistake". "All future supercross/motocross provided by the network will be aired by KCTV5"

Enough said, this was time well spent.
ENJOY KANSAS CITY AREA!! Mark

=more people watching = Toyota, Monster, Red Bull, Sycuan, SkullCandy, Etnies giving more $ to sponsor teams/riders.

We also need to hammer Feld about selling out. It's all about money to them, not so much for the real fans.

Yep... that would be a worthwhile petition - all rounds shown live on Speed.

Check your programming later in the day; big class is on CBS later in the afternoon Sunday in Sacto, 3:30-4:30 (starting half hour after the Speed 250f program ends), not preempted altogether.

I emailed our Des Moines CBS affiliate after only getting a 1/2 hr show last week. I got a nice reply and tomorrow we get a full hour.

Like some others have said, it could be on at another time (earlier or later). My listing is showing it at 10am ET.

How can more people watch it if it's not on?....Just checked my program guide and it does say that its on at 4:30-5:00pm Sunday.
So how much racing are they gonna show in that half hour?
Don't they have to air all the bullshit that the sponsors pay to broadcast?

I thought the sport paid. I'm pretty sure thats the case with the Nationals, but not positive on SX.

Thank you for digging this up ... at least we know what we are talking about now. I was thinking pretty low of CBS until you posted this. Sponsors need eyes seeing their logos. I'd guess Geiko is the team sponsor that benefits the most when CBS broadcasts the races. (where is the Progressive team?).

Imagine how old the NHRA is and they still pay ESPN $10 mil per yr for broadcasts.

I wonder if it's also part of the consideration that the pool of sponsors they can sell advertising to? With college hoops they might have a larger pool of advertisers (the latest acne cream?) that want to have their commercials run than with motorcycle racing? Because they know we spend all our $$s on the bikes. It's not good enough to have a large audience but the audience has to want the advertised product.
