I think one of my bigger fears is breaking both arms and not being able to take care of business in more way than one. . .

Personally I feel that broken legs are one of the things changing the sport in a bad way. First it was just broken arms or ankles, but now broken legs have made the sport much more dangerous.

I dont think people like Canard will ever get the time back that he lost when he tried out broken legs.

Ive been talking a a few people in the industry and actually heard some grumblings of a broken legs ban in the works. It just makes the sport way more dangerous than it needs to be.

I wish they were never invented.

Two broken legs at once suck very much. I've got two femurs at are in multiple pieces, still. At least it's only been 17 months and the nerve damage is limited to the left foot....that will never be able to make an upshift again.

If it can be determined, beyond a reasonable doubt, that broken legs inhibit the progress of privateers, then I'm all for banning them. I think they recently banned them in NASCAR, after the incidents with Tony Stewart and Kyle Busch. Motocross needs to change with the times, and banning broken legs might be a huge step in the right direction.

I broke both my wrists at the same time back in 2010. Luckily the hospital only caught the left one 4 weeks later and it didn't need any more attention, so I only had a cast on my right one. I got quite handy with good old lefty...

They are lots of fun. Shattered both of mine back in 2008 (yes, shattered), on top of that I dislocated my left ankle. Having the EMT say "Oh it's just dislocated" and pop it back into place while its broken in 8 places was really enjoyable.

Same here. Both femurs at once in May 2002.

I've had the rod and screws removed from my left, but the hardware in my right will remain for life.

Best of luck during your recovery.

Mine happened in high school so I used them to my advantage.. I would always ask the hottest girl in class if she wanted to push my wheelchair from one class to the next. It was a win/win she got out of class a few minutes early and I got a couple minutes to talk split. Whistling

Same here with the nerve damaged left foot. No shifts to be made there.

Back to semi-normal after this one. Took a ton of physio and work though. Dont really want to go through it all again.

Tried doing a stupid step up, ended up with both legs, feet , ankles, and my right knee being snapped.

I hesitated to open this thread. Kind of silly really. Did you expect " Oh, they're great! Can't wait to get the other one" Sheesh!! I broke one in multiple places, femur(in two places, hip socket etc....) It fucking sucked and I feel it every day. This time of year in Oregon when the weather begins turning It starts acting up. Well, gotta go refill my Yaeger glass.....

I'd say they absolutely suck.

And to the OP, there's zero reason an EMT should have tried to reduce a dislocation in a prehospital setting unless it was in an effort to restore blood flow (absence of pedal pulses in the case of an ankle). Even then, it shouldn't really happen. They may have manipulated it for the purpose of splinting, which would cause pain but there's no way any prehospital provider I know would try to reduce a dislocation.

And for kicks, here's my X-rays...
