I just saw a story about that on the Today show. Very promising technology.

It will just take 20 more years and 5 billion dollars before they can start helping people with it. That is interesting though that it sounds like the spinal chord can have a brain of it's own.

Way cool.

Science is awesome. This is where our tax money should be going, not some lazy bum that stopped looking for work.

Easy turbo...they're not lazy, just underprivileged. It's not their fault. We should feel bad for having jobs and living decent lives where we get to ride dirt bikes...

When I broke my neck they said they were 5-10 years away from a breakthrough in stem cell treatment, that was 12 years ago now

But yes science IS awesome, always discovering ways and means, what a great discovery,I just hope Stem Cell will prevail and fixing that gap across the tiny damaged nerve pathways will be solved someday Wink

Unfortunately I do not believe it until I see it. It is too easy to please shareholders & potential shareholders by communicating this. Once in a while we hear the same thing. If false, we should shot people making money & not delivering what represent for millions people a life changing opportunity, here you would see more breakthrough research.

I hope it works for all our injured brothers and sisters who fight the fight every day keeping their chins up and doing what they do. The next time one of us abled body riders bitches about money, houses, cars, bikes, etc. (or any other bullshit) keep in mind there are thousands of injured riders who would give up everything they own, or pay any price just to stand up and walk again......Sorry for the rant.......

Worked with a C4-C5 quadriplegic today and he said he read an article about electric stimulation and increasing motor control, thanks for posting the link.

We still use electrical stimulation for muscle re-education arms and shoulders along with stim bikes for the legs. Hope this is all going in the right direction.

There was video, so you can in fact see it. I think I know what you are saying though. It's a long way from this stage to the part where it viable on a large scale.

Still, it is wonderful to see something as promising as this.

Christopher Reeve is dead ??
Yes,he died of what started out as a pressure sore

Pretty easy to pick up with the inactivity.and with areas getting pretty boney due to weight loss, and even with his big entourage of carers etc tooSad
