It would be interesting to know how loyal you are to a bike brand?
Later this year it will be 20 years since I bought my first KTM, 1997 360 SX, other than for 2 months in 2000, when I bought a YZ 426,(the thing broke my leg) cause the new RFS had not been released. I have owned 16 in total. (this includes 4 that I have bought for my son in the last few years.)
I have 5 in my garage at the moment.

Hey Tony, my first KTM was also a 97 360SX; great bike! Went to Honda 450 in 2012 for one year, thats it.
250SX since. Before the KTM I think I had nearly 7 diffent brands...

I am loyal to ktm, but I had a few yz's also. I like any company that is loyal to the 2 stroke. I prefer ktm because they seem invested in their potential buyers.

I buy whatever is the best at the time. I've never understood brand loyalty. They've never given me anything so why should I be exclusive

Not sure if it's brand loyalty per say, but I like the orange, green, and yellow bikes.

Bingo!!
Unless I'm working for a certain brand, why the heck would I be brand loyal.
Certain brands feel better, more comfortable than others for each rider. Personally, I generally prefer the feel of Kawasaki.. But I don't like every bike they've produced.

Suzuki's from 79 to 88, then kawasaki's till 2002, then back to Suzuki's from 03 to 2011, then back to Kawis' from 2012 on,

my loyalty always was with what my father was selling, or what i was selling at the time,

I've owned and raced all 4 Japanese brands and -2- of the Euro brands.

Never owned a Maico; but, raced them a few times. Best "turning" bike...EVER.

I rode an AMex and a Hodaka.

Started on a Yamaha PW 50, then Kawaski KX 60 which was the only options when I was a kid. Then switched to a Honda CR80 in 1990, 2- CR 125s, 2- CR 250s, a CRF450R, back to a CR 250, then I started getting free bikes and my 20 year Honda run went out the window and I rode a couple 2010/11 YZ 450s,and then a couple 13, 14 KX450Fs. Which I'm riding now.

Now that I have to buy my bikes again I really like the look of the KTM 450 Factory Editions. But Honda always have a place in my heart.

I've never understood why people buy bikes based off others opinions of what is "best"

I've got 2 green two strokes and an orange thumper

Xr 100 for fun, Yamaha for the street, Polaris for the snow...

I do have a 1979 RM 400 N, and 14, GASGAS 250 trials bike in the garage.
Before the KTM's I owned Honda's, Yamaha's and Suzuki's.

I agree with guys who are asking why be loyal to a brand. Because yeah - what HAS the brand done for you?

That being said, my first 3 bikes were Hondas, so I have always had a good feeling for the red machines. Then I bought a Kawi, then I turned blue for a few years, then I raced ( but never owned ) a SUSZUKI and now I am back on Honda. And I think I will stay with Honda, cause I like the bikes, and my little bro owns a Honda dealership! Wink

Like many here, my first bike I owned and raced was a Yamaha PW50. I then moved to a Lem 50. Then a KX 60. I had a CR 80 because my dad got the best deal on the Honda. I then Had my first Suzuki, it was an RM 80 with a big wheel kit. Then I got an RM 125. I actually had two of them. Then my father broke his leg real bad racing and couldn't walk for several months. So I had to quit racing for a year. He raced Kawasaki's and had a couple tricked KX 500's and a brand new KX 250. He sold my RM's and his 500's I got bumped to a 250 at 12yrs old. I rode and raced the C class the following year and continued to ride KX's until 2003 when my dad bought a YZ450F. He didn't like the four stroke, but I did. So we traded.. My 2002 KX for his 450. I have no loyalty to brand.

I have liked a lot of bikes. Love the 06+ YZ250. Late model RM250. Also really like the RMZ 450..

Honda's 83-87 Kawie's 88-05 Suzuki 06-15

Picked up a few 2-strokes in the last few years. Honda's and Yamaha.

Easiest purchase I ever made was my '98 KX250. Very similiar to previous years that I loved.

I used to be all about Hondas growing up. Never thought I'd own anything but. Then I rode a Suzuki. My Honda days have been done for about 12 years now.

I have always liked Hondas because I rode them so much as a kid and I just feel so damn comfortable on them and just mesh pretty well with them I guess. Plus I've given some other jap brands a try and came away unimpressed really. My Yamahas have had sick engines but the shitty handling isn't worth it. Wasn't always that way, the old YZ250Fs felt great. But without any question my next bike will be a KTM or Husky, just for the electric start.

I grew up racing kx 80's and 125's cos that's what dad liked but I never felt that great on them.
10 years later I bought an 07 rm 250 and fell in love with the Suzuki. They just seem to fit me so well. Rode my brothers kxf and it still felt like a Kawi
honestly I don't know what everyone sees in ktm. I sold the rm for a 250sx and while it was fast I didn't see the quality. Yes they come with the hydro clutch and brembo brakes but I couldn't keep the rear spokes tight and bolts on it rusted. I treated exactly the same as my rm and my wife's rm 125 sat right next to my ktm with not a spot of rust on it

Brand loyalty is so NASCAR fan-ish. The only way I'd be "loyal" to a brand is if they gave me their bikes every year. I've had Yamahas, Suzukis, Hondas, and KTMs through the years. All had their positive and negative attributes.
