Boots getting caught on plastics

Edited Date/Time 10/31/2014 11:59am
So I have a problem. On my bike (03 KX125), when ever I hit a jump, if I take my foot off the peg, my boots get caught on the airbox or number plate, and its quite sketchy being a beginner and having your leg stuck off the peg when landing. Could possibly just be my boots and that theyre too short (Thor Q1). What do you guys do to stop your boots from getting caught? Anyone else with the same style bike (03+ KX12/250) have the same problems?

Yeah, I might have to do ther same. Only happens on the right side too. If I intentionally my foot off the peg itd be one thing, but its one of those things that just happens automatically, you know? Tongue Thanks!

Always take off nose high and then use your brake to adjust the bike in mid-air. Problem solved. Cool

My boot gets caught occasionally. I didn't have the problem with my Fox Comp 5's but now that I have the Garnae boots they seem to stick occasionally. I've learned to manage with it although it did scare the piss out of me the first few times.

I had some old Thor boots that did that same thing (right side). And yes, it will scare the crap out of you. I always ran a strip of duct tape on the seam to keep it from happening.

I use Tech 7's, and ride a '12 kx250f. A friend of mine uses tech 10's and has complained of his boot getting stuck sometimes while jumping and cornering on a '12 and '14 kx250f. I have had no problems with my tech 7's though.

Bro, how are you supposed to leg swag if you don't take your foot off the peg?

I was hanging off the back as far possible through some rollers and got out of shape a bit. When the suspension compressed the upper part of my boot got wedged behind the right side number plate while I still had my foot on the peg, needless to say the bike didn't react well and it stopped me from moving the way I felt necessary to keep the bike on path (tech 10's and an 06 CRF450). It only happened once though.

I'm guessing you don't hit jumps often?

I don't have plastics on my bike. Not familiar with that term at all.

My boots sometimes get caught on the plastic side panels, but it sounds like you are talking about something else. Whistling

So you're saying sell your bike, then stick your fingers into and outlet?

I had this same problem but as soon as I started using knee braces the problem stopped. Obviously the knee braces filled in the area above the boots that were hooking onto the plastic.
