After missing much of the 2015 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship due to injury, GEICO Honda’s Justin Bogle has been on the bike since last week and today was pounding out laps aboard a Grant Hutcheson-tuned Honda CRF450R. That’s right, a 450! Bogle hopes to return to action in the 450 class at Unadilla.

“I love the bike,” he said. “It’s so much better than I was expecting. I’ve always struggled on bikes that you need to rev out. I can short shift the 450 and I can’t wait.”

I can see him getting in the top 10; he is a capable rider. Perhaps he will fare better on the 450's than he did in the 250 class. He could be a big surprise; kinda anxious to see.

Wonder how he will adjust come race time.. IMO, he has some of the best style in the 250 class. Mid battle and he'll still be hanging the bike out there, leg out while ripping a tear off. Hope he does well.

High hopes in here for Bogle. I like the dude, but he wasn't one of the premier outdoor guys on a 250. Maybe he'll do better on the big bike, but I'm not expecting him to light it up in only his second race of the season. I think 10-15th is more realistic for his first race back. He led the first lap of moto 1 at Hangtown, and then got passed by AC, Webb, Musquin, Savatgy, JMart, AMart, Alldredge, & ARod. Nelson was on his way by him in moto 2 when the crash that resulted in his injury took place.

Hence the part about struggling on the 250. Some riders shine on the bigger bikes.

Well harry , you never know with these guys. Look across the pond at Febvre and Coldenhoff. Last year in MX2 they didn't set the wold on fire , and now? Sheeesh , those young buck's are tearing it up!
Some guys are built for 450's and some are built for 250's. Justin' is a great rider , so he may surprise some people.

Anyone want to bet he beats Wilson this weekend? haha.

He left Pourcel and Anderson (by like 100 points) behind him in the standings last year

Bogle doesn't come back until Unadilla, this weekend is Milville.

Makes sense to me, he has move up next year and his 250 season was virtually over before it began. It'll be a good opportunity to show any potential employers what he can do on a big bike.

Bogle should be another guy 4-5 seconds a lap off the lead pace. He could go anywhere from 4-12. We will see how his fitness is. There is a bunch of guys that could go 4-12th.These spots are one of the most interesting parts of this mx season.

Not sure about comparing the current 250 class speed/intensity vs. 450s, look at Craig. Not spectacular on the 450s (he didn't suck, and was in the top 10, but I don't remember him as a top-5 guy) then he comes off the couch to compete at the front of the 250 class. I can't figure that one out, or what it means for Bogle's success the other direction.

Tough to compare with guys like Craig. He came out and did well on a almost bone stock 450 last year.

I'm expecting 8-15 for Bogle for his first time out. If he finishes the year on a 450 I expect him in the 8-10 area.

it is interesting with Stewart, Craig slated for 250's and Bogle moves up? But as Bogle said, he likes that short shift...most do have a preference, bring it Justin!

The reason is that Bogle has pointed out of the 250 class in supercross and his contract is up. Why not field a 450 and let the kid show what he's got? 250 stable is full anyways, and there's no Eli out there.

With the "high price" his agent is asking for, this is a huge gamble. I like Bogle but this is IMHO not a well played move. I'm not sure that coming off of injury to ride the 450 is the greatest debut for him, he is trying to fetch a big contract next year. I guess they figure that if he squeezed in a top 5, that would show his value and validate what they are asking. But I figure guys like 23, 20, 377, 4, 21 etc will be likely to be in front of him, some of which I'm speculating are riding for much less then he is asking.

As an amateur he spun a lot of race laps on a 450, including his last 2 yrs on a Geico 450. IIRC - I think his results at LL's, Mammoth, Ponca, MiniO's, etc. were just as good on it as they were on the 250.

But, much like ET3, starts will be the key.....

Craig didn't necessarily come off the couch. He has been racing locally and training harder than ever by the sound of it.
