He definitely realizes that burning bridges in business get's you stranded with no where to go. It does sound like there's some bitterness about Suzuki blowing their wad on Stewart rather than supporting his team but good on him not to come right out and say it.

I think he meant RCH, not Stewart.

He definitely understands the importance of treating the Japanese who have a high context culture with the utmost respect even when things don't seem to go his way. That'll pay off in the long run. I really like how he puts an emphasis on both race team culture and solid business performance as drivers of his teams success. Those two things are important in a business's long term longevity. Great Interview!

I completely didn't think of them. You're probably right or a little of both.

Great Interview!! It's good to see that sometimes the "little guy" or "underdog" does win! I hope Millsaps wins the championship and the other rider's do well also, but even if he doesn't this team is a great program and one to look up to. Good things happen to good people!

I thought it was a very interesting article too. Running it as a business seems like a no brainer, but as he stated, when you're wanting to win, sometimes the budget goes out the window and then you're left with nothing. Seems to have a great business model and hopefully we can get more teams working that way.

I'd also be interested to know what Davi's Championship bonus is...I'm sure it's covered by insurance, but if it isn't, that could play into next year as not many people (including me) thought he would be a serious championship contender. With that said, easier to get more money and support with a championship winning rider on board.

The Gentleman has Class.

It's as simple as that.

Very well written, open, and honest. I commend Mr. Hweitt for the business model he follows. My guess is he'll have the factories beating down his door to get on board for next year (if they aren't already). Best part is... he's proving you can win without factory support.

Well...if they hadn't "blown their wad" they probably wouldn't have been able to sign Stewart in the first place. If you want a championship rider, you have to be prepared to spend championship level money. If Suzuki didn't have any money left...they dropped the ball. They should have had a bigger "wad". Of course, it's not the first time they've done that.

Hewitt sounds like a guy who genuinely gives a hoot about the sport, and his riders. In the business this sport has become...that's a rarity.
