Yesterday was pretty cool. Eddie Cole (Founder of Answer Racing) and Bob Hannah came over to our office to chat with all of us and share some personal race stories from the 70/80s. I give those dudes so much respect, it was an honor to have them here.

Good seeing ML too, hopefully he touch on a little bit more of what went down. Days like this don't happen often. Makes me proud to work for a brand that's been around since the 70s.

Right on... Always liked Hannah's perspective. Not many riders today express themselves the way Hannah does. Only rider that comes to mind is Webb.
Need more like that.

Where's Eddie? Holdin the camera?

Here's a good old days photo of Eddie. He's on the Can-Am (Canned Ham, Can't Jam Tongue ), in orange (for you short timers).

I think the dealership sold both brands and both are on those jerseys if I remember correctly. But the dealership logo definitely had the big wing on it.

I believe they did. Sad, Kolbe was such a big dealer in the SFV and a big MX sponsor.

Legends day at your office?
There was an old "Eddie Cole" Can-Am 250 on OC Craigslist last week. It was roached, but the title was in Eddie's name. I spied a couple of trick pieces still intact.

Yep--Kolbe Can-Am. Donnie Hansen rode for them right before he went Factory Honda! Used to watch him, Eddie, and Joe Root battle in the 250 and Open Pro classes every Friday night at Indian Dunes on the orange rockets!

Thanks for posting that pic--I'm building an MX-6B 250 from the basket case up, bringing one back to life! And reliving my high school days!

I've been good friends with Eddie for 20 years, he's one of the best human beings on this planet, and also my neighbor.
Hannah on the other hand...... Lol J/K
He's a unique guy, I've spent the day hanging around him with Eddie on several occasions. He's a great story teller and has so many good ones to tell. Also a germphoebic, who only shakes your hand if he has any wipes left to clean his hand afterwards. It's a trip to watch him with the public, because when he's out f hand wipes, the shaking f hands is over with. Lol he's a fugging legend though and he knows it. Lol
The two of them together has been a great team and I'm sure Bob benefits mostly, from endorsing Eddies companies, but I'm sure that he brings business to the companies as well. Eddie is a very smart business man and has been extremely successful with building companies from the ground floor, to the top. Meanwhile, he's the most humble and generous (too generous at times) man I've ever met.

Eddie said that he bought that bike for his brother back in '78. It has a few parts that he had laying around, but Can Am took back all the rac bikes that he raced and crushed them.

langhammx, do you know if Eddie Cole is any relation or was he one of the Cole Brothers that owned "Cole Brothers Suzuki" in North Hollywood? Just something I've always wondered.

No, different family.
Greg was one of the COLE BROS, I beleive.
Craig is Eddies brother, but he didn't really make a big name for himself in the industry.

Kolbe Honda jersey. Bitchin. Brings back memories of SoCal MX in the 70s. So many tracks and so many local shops sponsoring riders and they all had those cool team jerseys you could identify.

Kolbe Honda, Mid Valley CZ, CMS, Hacienda Honda. Steves Bultaco,Sambos race team. Bunch of others in cant remember.

The jersey has Honda and Can-Am on it below the Kolbe wing. This is the jersey that Hansen rode in the 79 Superbowl of MX. Eddie Cole was one cool guy back then.

I sent the link. It was never his bike, he bought it for his brother Craig. It's a production bike with a couple of do-dads from one of his bikes.
