2 weekends left; UK and Germany, each round has 2 days with with 25 max points per day so 100 max points left with Holcombe maintaining a 37 point lead over the recent ISDE individual Champion Loic Larrieu on the Yamaha. Last Year's Champion Matt Phillips on the Sherco has moved into the top 3 (after announcing his retirement from the series). The possibility to clinch the title exists this weekend for Holcombe if he can extend his lead by 14 points.

With a sandy track, the Beta 300 2t and Sherco 300 4t may be at a disadvantage over the 450 4t's in the open engine format EnduroGP runs. Due to land considerations this weekend will be an unusual format for EnduroGP where the MX track and the nearby forest (not the golf course damn it ) will be combined as a special test run 6 times each Saturday against the clock. Sunday will be a 3 hour GNCC style format where riders are on the track together and will require at least 2 pit stops, results based on finishing positions.
So far the entry list includes a few non series regulars from the UK, former GNCC and Endurocross Champion David Knight and MXGP 300 Champion Brad Anderson and there may be more.
From Steve's Instagram, he's picking up a foot since the rut was too deep and railing on one leg.

Finally, is there anything you would like to say to the British fans on the run up to the EnduroGP at Hawkstone?
Holcombe: “Get down there and cheer on the local riders, you will love it. The crazier the atmosphere and support the better in my opinion. Support the Brits and come and see what top-level enduro racing is all about. Make some noise and we won’t disappoint you.”

I think the EX MX guys are going to be favourites at hawkstone but I would love to see Holcombe and the Beta 300 take the victory on home soil. This event should be very intresting.

I can see why you would think that..... But after seeing Brad Freeman set the fastest laps of the weekend (beating lap times in MX1 etc) at the Acerbis National round at Hawkstone this year on a Beta 300, I'd say they are plenty competitive!
Power does help but as always it's more rider than bike. Technique is key at Hawkstone. Ride tight and/or overly aggressive and that track will wear you out and spit you off in a matter of minutes!

GB has a couple of other title hopes in E2 (250 or under 2 or 4t) with Jamie McCanney on the Yamaha and in the Juniors (under 23 any bike) with Brad Freeman on the Beta, both are currently running a close 2nd in points.

Friday will be a ‘free day’ for all with open paddock so everyone can see the big team trucks, riders, technical inspection and track inspection.
Saturday will then be the first day of action with two special stages; Test 1 will be the MX test which will see the top Enduro GP and E2 riders take a sighting lap followed by six individual timed laps from 10.00 am onwards. Each following lap will see the fastest rider from the previous lap on track first followed by the second fastest and so on.
Test 2 is called the Enduro Test and will follow the same format at the same time for the Enduro Junior and Youth classes.
After each of the six tests are completed the riders will change tests and get a single sighting lap in readiness for a further six timed laps.
The day will end at approximately 4.00 pm for all to enjoy a relaxed evening while the team mechanics work their magic late in to the night.
Sunday’s action will begin with a Fast Eddy National 2-hour race at 9.00am with 150 riders getting the unique opportunity to test their skills on the very same tracks of the Enduro GP riders from the day before.
The main race will begin at 12.00 midday for a full three hours with each class lined up on the MX start straight for a dead engine start.
First row will be the top Enduro GP riders with row two, the E2 class, starting 1 minute behind.
One minute gap again and the third row will be the Enduro Junior class. Last away (but certainly not least) will be the Enduro Youth.
Each rider will have to make TWO mandatory pit stops for fuel during the three hour challenge so the weekend is all go right from Friday onwards.
Add to all the race action why not grab a bargain from Trade stands, enjoy the Saturday evening marquee and band making the Enduro GP of Hawkstone an event not to be missed!
A full weekend of entertainment for all the family regardless if you’re a fan of MX, Traditional Enduro, Extreme or just a two-wheel enthusiast
I'm wondering a bit how Holcombe will approach his race strategy? The reality is he could probably put in a couple of journeyman rounds and take it to the last round with plenty of cushion in the points. As a fan you would like to see him pin it to win it and take the title on his home turf, I'm sure he would love to do just that and control the race from the front. Business wise, it may be better to take the safer route and dial it back a notch and protect his lead, Dungey style. In the end history will remember the Champion more than the road to victory. I suspect that last year Holcombe used just such a strategy in the final round, and cruised to the championship of the E3 rather than trying to make up points on Phillips for the EnduroGP title. This year with the former E2 and E3 combined into EnduroGP in the new format, there is only 1 title for over 250cc so no such option is in play.
