Kicking it is usually the best bet.

I have a crf250, when the bike is cold, pop the choke out, give the throttle a pump, give it 2 kicks, now give it 3 pumps on the throttle, now kick it(maybe twice). I'm giving you 99 percent chance of it starting up right then. STFU noob!

crf250's are quirky starting them cold. At least in my experience.

yeah. you have to warm up the kick lever grease with about 100 kicks. once youve got that warmed up, do what dave said and hold it wide open. should crank right up. if that doesnt help, i always found that pouring some gasoline on it and throwing in a match got it going pretty good too. but thats with 4 pukes though. if you had a real bike, a 2 stroke, you'd only have to open the choke, feather the throttle and kick once. good luck ....

I sometimes have to turn the gas off and pull the gas line draining the carb. Turn Gas back on and kick. It will fire up every time.

I get a blow tourch and fire up the engine to warm it up, then kick it and when that doesnt work, I beat the shit out of the motor and insert 2stroke.Whistling

Blip blip, kick, choke, wide open, kick, blip, swear, cuss, blip twice, kick again...repeat faster until it fires up.

At the track last weekend my son decided he was going out for a few more laps before we loaded up to leave. Got all his gear back on, climbed on his CRF250 and proceeded to kick. And kick. And kick, and kick. As soon as he was panting like a dog, I helped him load the bike and we left. LOL. Pretty fun bike, but an absolute pain in the ass to fire. My old YZ250F isn't any better. Don't think I'll ever own another. Hope the OEMs are listening........Angry

Mine starts first kick hot or cold !

If yours does not start easy, then you have done something wrong. Every CRF250R, I have had starts very, very...........very, easy

Try turning the throttle 4-5 times then kicking it. Ive heard your not supposed to give a fourstroke gas when you start it but mine doesnt start first kick unless i do that. It could also mean your valves need to be adjusted.

I know with the early Yamaha 4-strokes you were not suppose to turn the throttle. But you can turn mine all you want, doesn't affect it at all.
