Hi. Just wondering what your opinion is on the best track to watch an ama motocross race next year? Red bud? Unadilla?
If u could go to one only? Does not matter where?

That's a really tough call my friend. I live near Red Bud and it has unbelievable atmosphere and presentation but imho the track was kind of generic last year (TV lap times?). Unadilla is a layout that every motocross track aspires to be and is easily the most classic track in the USA and maybe one of the best in the world. I haven't been to Glen Heleln but it looks to me to be a great test of the riders and damn near looks like it should be in a video game. Spring Creek has really come on and many view it as the best track at this point. I have really been leaning towards a trip to Colorado and that track looks super cool to me on TV not to mention the area of the country that is in. Then you have Washougal(beautiful scenery nearby again), the new track in Indiana that looks great and the classic at Hangtown. Take your pick, you won't be dissapointed!

I agree Red Bud and Millville are tops.

The Indy Ironman National was great and it will develop as they hold more National MX events.

Budds Creek has a great history and is a true motocross track.

Dump the crappy flat ground, SX-style facilities.

If you are flying from Aus, you should consider more than "best track". Locale and proximity to airports should take priority. Ticket prices too.

I think most of the Australian flights come in through San Francisco or LAX so Hangtown and Glen Helen would be the cheapest plane tickets, (theoretically) as opposed to boarding another plane, and flying cross-country from LAX to NY for Unadilla.

Also, factor in that the later in the series you go, the closer the points races are getting. Factor in specator views. For example, you can see basically the entire Budds Creek track from anywhere you stand, where as Unadilla, not so much.

Airline pricing cut-offs are 21 days, 14 days, and 4/5 days.

Dilla is not what it used to be...they cut a lot of the natural terrain. The classic sections are really cool to watch though, just be prepared for a lot of walking. You can only see small sections of the track.

Budds creek or glen Helen would get my vote

Iron man has to be up there. One of the best tracks I've ever seen.

we have been to Red Bud and Tennessee. I think this year we are going to drive up to Spring Creek (Millville). It looks really cool to me.

Milleville is the best track on the circuit in my opinion .

I do like hang town , for the fact that you can see the whole track from any where you are

imo Glen Helen is better on tv

Seiously can't go wrong with any national. It's more a matter of what else you may want to do while in the USA. Lots of beautiful places to visit at and around any of the tracks.

Regardless of what race you attend it will be awesome!

I would find a race in an area where you may want to visit some historical sites or something else of interest...

If your coming from Australia, then Red Bud hands down is the must experience event.

Cheers for the input. Some really good points to consider. I do like the look of budds creek. But like you say any race would be awesome to see.

Would like to see a non-mud race on Ironman before I would say. The practice videos looked cool with the big ass jumps and drop offs. but as far as a fan, I enjoy watching Redbud, Washougal and Freestone before they pulled it from the series.

It depends. Are you there for the race only? Want other stuff to do while you're there? Bringing family?

If it's a family thing, I'd say Glen Helen. Disneyland/Hollywood, Troy Lee Designs, Pro Circuit, beaches, etc. You could make the same argument for Budds Creek, with Washington, DC, nearby.

If you want a hardcore racing weekend? Indy might not be a bad choice. You can go to the Speedway museum, and hit the race in Crawfordsville.

There's no way to get around it...Unadilla is sort of a PITA to get to. Beautiful country, but you're going there to see racing, and that's pretty much it.

I love Red Bud, including the Friday night party action and night racing. But the "everything else" (sights, attractions) nearby is more limited. Chicago is cool, though. Pretty much the same goes for Millville.

Washougal and Thunder Valley are both excellent if you want a cool race experience, but with major metropolitan areas and beautiful scenery nearby.

Colorado, bro. Watch the race and then spend a week in the Rocky Mountains. Best trip ever.

Interesting that you'd make that connection. I didn't.

Colorado had recreational sales going when we visited there last time. Washington was still ramping up to the start of theirs.

believe it or not the Utah national is a fantastic one to go to and everything about it this year rocked. no it's not as scenic as Washougal, but it has much better viewing in my opinion. i've been to both.

Thunder Valley is fuckin' rad too.

so is Budd's, but again, not great viewing.

Friday, before it rained, I did three sessions of "Old Man Amateur" practice and it was a blast!

Regarding Red Bud and nearby things Warren Dunes State Park on Lake Michigan is awesome and very family friendly.

GuyB, no love for Nor-Cal? Hangtown is the opener this year i think, always a lot of excitement and you can see all the track from lots of places. you got Tahoe, Yosemite, San Francisco and i'm sure there's more.
