I saw allot of great sand riders in real life to name a few: Joël Smets, Stefan Everts, Willy Van Wessel, Remy v. Rees, Leon Giesbers, Cairoli, De Dycker, De Reuver, ... but when you see Herlings then you need to say he's a class on his own in the sand!

Considering Carmichael's dominance in the sand against everyone at Southwick, Daytona, and against Everts in 03 at the Des Nations, I'll have to say he gets the nod. Herlings, Cairoli, and Everts are close though.

03 wasn't sand, but I'm not going to discuss because this topic is to cool! (I've been in Zolder I know)

So the point of your thread was to state Herlings is the best sand rider and disagree with anyone who thinks otherwise? Stop making these pointless "best" threads. Plenty of them already on the site.

I wish Reed was healthy and got to race the MXdN this year. Not saying he is the best, but he would be up there. One of the only people to beat Carmichael at Southwick, and won the Lierop GP in 2001.

Sorry I didn't realise you was the forum police. I have replied to one person and at what point did I disagree with them? I didn't say James Stewart wasn't faster than Herlings, I was being sarcastic.

I'm making these threads up because, like me, we are all bored during the off season. If you think they are "pointlesss". why bother reading and replying to them?

Best Dirt rider.........anyone in the top 10 in the states.

And there goes Jeffro. One of God's own prototypes. A super high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Theres no real sand in the AMA nationals anymore, but when there was, a lot of our guys were fast. But Hannah was a beast in the sand.

Does anyone not remember Ricky 4th gear wide open on the turn above the start at Southwick? Dude never let off. He was THE SAND MASTER....people didn't beat Ricky in the sand unless he beat himself.....he DESTROYED people in the sand....Herlings rips BUT....Cairoli went 1-1 this year in Lierop....bad start.....blah blah blah....u make your own luck....Ricky knew how to shred the gnar on ANY track at ANY given time....

Some places are sandier than others. In the U.S., we call them "beaches" and scantily clad women walk around on them. In tiny little, over-developed European countries you call them "race tracks" because there really is nowhere else to build a track.

Belgium has 5 tracks in the entire country? Such a shame. Shame, indeed.

If ya gunna quote the best sand rider you might as well quote which is better 2t or 4t
Carmichael - Reed handed it to him at Daytona 04/05? memory not that good
Everts - Coppins handed it to him at Desert Martin 05 ? Memory still up the keister
Herlings - Well Cairolli beat him at des Nations.
My only thought is outright speed has to be Herlings, best ever is ......?

Look how long he has been a member then how many posts he has.. then listen to what he is saying. The forum police would have stepped in about 14,000 more posts.

And this "best" shit is annoying, a matter of biased opinion and its obvious you just try to start "us vs. them" fights. Let it go.

Muscle-Milk (I feel gay even typing that) has started 3 one-liner fishing threads in a single day.. Does he get a ribbon or some sort of major award?

Herlings

When guys like Everts say how good they think he is and what I saw at Lierop then Lommel it's without doubt,I was there when RC beat Everts at the makeshift circuit Zolder, but that was nothing on Southwick even.

In the proper GP tracks Everts wouldn't have had any problems with RC just like he didn't with anyone else, but still not at the level of Cairoli or Herlings

Reed,RV etc? Look how they got on against Dungey at Southwick, and all the pre MXdN talk was about Dungey going to make Herlings eat shit etc but he got absolutely destroyed buy the kid

AC raced the 1st Moto when the track was smoother,Herlings did back to back Motos, after crashing, starting dead last and grinding his way through 38 riders, eating shit for 40 mins to catch AC was Insane,if he didn't hit Guanieri 2 laps to go when he was right onAC's back wheels I think he'd have won the scrap for the lead

3-4 seconds faster than AC at Lierop on his 250 when he lapped the whole feild says Herlings is the fastest ever

And he rips on hardpack too, probably as fast as any 250 class rider in the AMA or GPs right now

You have to say Jeffrey Herlings by a country mile imo.

No doubt Cairoli is also very good as we all know. But the fact Jeffrey was even able to catch him at all, broke the laws of reality. It was insane how much time he was taking out of everybody and there's not a rider in the world other than Herlings who could track down a holeshotting Cairoli round Lommel after crashing round the first turn and starting in almost dead last. OK he didn't win. But considering the above he had no business winning. The fact he got anywhere near the lead is in itself ridiculous.

Herlings. And he's only gonna get quicker.

To all the people saying RC, who would win out of Herlings vs RC if they were both 18?

And if it was at a "real" sand track?
