So to go along with the goggle thread, what helmets are you guys wearing?

So is the latest and greatest the 6D? Or what about all these helmets with MIPS? Are they just as good?

I'm really digging my Moto 9 flex. I had a Moto 8 years ago and didn't like the fit around the ears at all. The new Moto 9 fits my head great and has the newest latest tech to help prevent brain injuries.

Luuuuckkkyyyy! I want one of those lids so badly. Reminds me of the McGrath days back when I was in elementary/junior high school.

I have an older model Moto 9 and a Fox V3. Both are very comfortable, but Id probably go with the Moto 9 over the Fox lid.

Love my Moto 9 Flex. Went to the store to buy a 6D and left with the Bell. Fits my head amazingly.

6D for me. Had a concussion earlier this year and finally decided to take safety seriously.

So is the Bell Flex technology and the MIPS essentially the same?

Yes it's a sweet lid! Looks much better in person. They didn't cheep out on the paint.

Anyone have any luck with the MIPS helmets? Looking to get my son a new helmet soon and don't know if I should get a 6D or if something with mips will suffice?

I think the idea is similar with the outer shell being seperated from the inner liner somewhat. fly does mips. I put my head in a Bell because that's what they do. Make helmets. You can even have a custom Bell made just for you if you want it badly enough.

This, except my epiphany was in 2014.

I wish they had this tech back in 2002 or 03. I had a big get off jumping all the way down a hill. From what I'm told I was out for over 20 minutes. All I remember is waking up in the hospital in the ct machine and then the doctors telling me they were going to drill some holes to release pressure. I don't remember much of that group of years around then. I was wearing a hjc helmet. I also ruined a brand new 03 Yz 250f that I had only ridden 2 times. Bent the forks, ripped off the sub frame, exhaust etc etc.. But most of all I wish I had a better helmet on at the time.. I have not quite been the same since.

The photos definitely don't do it justice. I have the same helmet and was blown away by the paint job when I first got it.

No.
MIPS does nothing to help with direct impacts.

If Shoei and Arai don't make some structural changes to their helmets to address mid and low g impacts commonly assiciated with dirt bike crashes they will go the way of the dinosaurs.

Care to give advice on what the best helmet options are? I am in the market for a new one and am not married to a certain brand but am very confused by all the marketing as to which are the best choices.

Shoei and Arai are overpriced 25 year old technology. Nothing new in years.
Move along, nothing to see here.

Go 6D or one of the mips helmets.

Over priced foam. 6D and MIPS are a much better use of money.

Any of the "tech" helmets will provide you with low, mid and high G load dispersement. Tech helmets Bell Flex, 6D, Kali are examples. Find one that fits your head and you should be in business.

really confused as to why there are not more Leatt helmets in out in the public yet. I am really leaning towards one for my son who suffered a concussion while wearing a Shoei. The video they put together makes it seem like an amazing helmet just haven't been able to put my hands on one yet.

Why hasn't the Kali taken off?

They really seem like with their non carbon model they could benefit from being a solid lower cost higher tech helmet.
