I have a 2003 KX250 and I have been researching different fuel's. I use 927 Pre Mix and have been running VP C12 mixing 40:1. Bike runs great. Just looking for different opinions... Indiana #2

Also some nitromethane to fill the floatbowl for the start really helps with the holeshot!

Maxima or Yamalube, mixed 40:1 with premium pump is what I run. Not going to waste my money on VP fuel if my bikes don't even need it

If you switch to pump make sure and treat it with some sort of corn killer!

Avoid ethanol, run whichever oil makes you happy.

Can you push your speed on the last lap as much a you can on the first? No? Neither can I.... Which is why I don't waste my money on C12. Get 93 and splash a little cheap 110 in there (Sunoco) if your bike really needs it. I guessing it doesn't though. My cleaned up 2014 250 SX doesn't gain enough HP to justify the good hooch and runs just fine on 93/110 at around 3.5/1.5 gal ratio

I won't run anything other than motoul r800 premix..... Trust me on that one

So have you guys seen the new VP fuels for 2 and 4 stroke engines where the 2 stroke gas for weed wackers etc are mixed and 40:1 and 50:1 and then there was the 4 stroke gas that isn't race fuel just consumer gas comes in their 5 gallon cans (I Believe) but it is completely ethanol free

Just wanted to get someone's take on these fuels ...either the premixed stuff OR the 4 stroke ethanol free gas you can buy and use to make your own premix with that ethanol free fuel. Anyone think this stuff would be particularly good Im thinking about using the 4 stroke labeled stuff and mixing 32 or 40:1 with some Yamalube

http://www.grainger.com/product/46T346?gclid=CNzd6JLvpL8CFc1lfgodGHkAKQ…

nevermind ....at $110 for 5 gallons, for garden tools.....that's crack prices son!

^^^ this, we ran the same combo in a hot rod 125 for two years and never had an issue. only difference we used Lucas 2 stroke oil instead, had great results. and my kid was still going just as fast on the last lap Smile

My YZ125 needed higher octane to run cleanly but I did what the previous owners told me to do (just added an octane booster). That worked but was a bit muddy. I finally broke down and bought some C12 (the lowest they had at my shop) and it's really cleaned it up. That might be the jetting coming back around to me through the fuel, but it's crisp and clean right now.

I run Motul premix too.

100LL using Super M or Formula K2 works great in all my non-road vehicles. Even works in the lawnmower.

I have a gas station near me that sells renegade 110 leaded and my yz125 runs a lot cleaner on it than normal pump gas.

Running a higher octane fuel has an effect on jetting, right? I've always been under that impression.

Unfortunately, anyone in town who needs race gas! Same price for U4.4, C111. The only cheaper source I've got is 3 hours away for $25/ gallon. Getting screwed big time.

Unless you are slaying everybody at major amateur events, you aren't fast enough to need race fuel. Don't waste your money. I run premium with 40:1 Yamalube R2 and it has worked perfect for years.

Motocross Action Quote

"Word to the wise. All production motocross engines are designed to run on the 91-octane, unleaded premium that can be purchased at the gas station down the street. If the engine can use pump gas under a race load without detonating, you seldom find hidden power in $25 a gallon race gas."

I'm looking for consistency (and no ethanol) in my fuel. That's not possible at the pump around here.

Some ethanol is good..... Ethanol is alcohol, which is the main way to hold oxygen in fuel..... Just sayin.....

Too much is bad, and a heavy concentration from gas that has sat for a while is terrible.... But it's easy to test

I have always used Yamalube mixed 32:1 and cam2 105 octane. Never had a problem with any of my bikes, or my sons bikes. Vintage or modern.

100LL is the best bang for the buck if your bike needs leaded fuel to stay out of detonation. It's what I run in all my 2-strokes, with the exception of my modified 07 CR250, which has high enough compression to need 30% C12 added to the 100LL.

100LL with Castor 927 in the summer.
100LL with Super M in the winter

If I was rich I'd use VP race fuel all the time in everything with the same oils

114 octane Base race gas with Redline oil. Runs great and really juiced up the midrange. Base is quality fuel and sells for $10 a gallon here. My YZ pinged with pump gas.
