Really? Seems to me with a bad setup and all, he came from 4 seconds back to win! Still think that?

So he threw the team under the bus already with a "bad set up" ?

Give credit to Dungey..the kid is fast, and I don't think anyone was expecting him to catch James and even be close enough like that at the end.

I disagree....I think may have been what Reed needs....Now he can ride with a bit of fire and desperation and hopefully it will make for some really good racing.

If youre gonna lose points, do it at A1, it's tons better then losing points at round 12 or 13..

I didn't say it was THE end, I said it was the BEGINNING of the end, and that's exactly what it was. Racer 92 nailed it. Just to be clear, that was Dungey's SECOND EVER supercross on a 450, and he gave Stewart all he could handle. He's only going to get better and faster. Stewart looked on the edge several times trying to stay with Dungey. Deal with it Stewart worshippers.

Great race, was sitting on the edge of my seat watching Dungey's great ride.

And it was definitely that, very impressive.

But, did you even hear the announcers (Ricky included) saying they thought James was "just cruising around the track" for well over the first half of the race?

Then he made up 4 seconds to win. Oh yeah, he did win this race, right?

I think predicting "The beginning of the end" is a bit premature.

Now I'm just stating the obvious, and in no way am trying to diminish Ryan's epic ride. I think he definitely has it in him to win quite a few races this year. And in his rookie year at that! Friggin' incredible!

They were about 30 seconds ahead of 3rd place. Dungey's fast lap was less than two-tenths slower than Stewarts and I am sure that Stewart was pushing fairly hard when he was trying to catch Dungey. Dungey definitely wasn't in awe of Stewart's speed. You could see it at the end of the race when Dungey was trying to pass Stewart back. I also think it is premature to think it is the beginning of the end for Stewart, but I also think Dungey really showed something tonight and that he is only going to get better as his confidence grows. He knows that he can run up front now.

I see the end coming for the fastest man on the planet....Bubba would have not made up those 4 seconds so easy if Dungey had not of made those three mistakes.

OK Mr. Namecaller. How about if we base on winning the 09 Supercross Lites West Coast title, the outdoor AMA National 250 Motocross Championship, the Motocross des Nations MX1 individual title as well as the title for Team USA, AND his results in both his Supercross races on a 450, including tonight?

Oh sorry, facts are often lost on those who don't want to see or hear them.

X2........ Bubba still has plenty in the tank...... although, as pointed out during the broadcast, he's never truly dominated like Showtime or RC did... and barely edging out Dungey tonight could not be considered dominant..... and Blubba was on the Edge a lot tonight...... he season could have been over a half dozen times.....

Reed on the other hand, is staring straight at a tough up hill battle..... sorta like MC in 97' on his Suzi....

Dungey has that RC style work ethic though. No flashy cars, no 16.5 carat diamond studs. Just a dirtbike and a mission. He knows what he has to do. So does Stewart. Hopefully we will see some epic battles this year. I expect to see Reed kicking ass to make up lost points and I expect to see RV find what was missing tonight. Hopefully Stroupe won't kill anyone, he should still be in the 250F class the way he rides.

Im bit unsure about how "100%" James really was. I mean in all the interviews, im not sure if he was just playing dumb and being coy, but he certainly didnt sound very confident in himself, like hes been struggling with something, but thats only speculation. Well done Ryan!

It may not be the end or the beginning of the end but that type of pressure is what is likely to make James make big mistakes i.e. crashes.

I am in no way a Stewart worshipper, but it seemed pretty obvious to me that Stewart was playing games.

Stewart and Dungey are two of my favorite riders and i am pumped to watch them battle. Props to Ryan, but man you guys have to give james his credit. Way to many haters on this site.

It's all about 20 laps and not 15 laps. Who had 20 laps in them....oh, that would be Mr. Supercross.

STFU now, stupid.

Dungey rode a great race but Stewart did seem to be able to just turn it up when it was time to go and make the pass.

At least things won't be boring.....lol.

Well, the theory would follow that, as Dungey is a total rookie, and he matched James in both practice and the race, that ...ummm der.. duh... (wait for my brain gears to engage...)

Oh yeah, that's right... He will probably get FASTER!

*whew* I almost forgot about logic.

(I know they no longer teach logic in schools, so it is probably not your fault.)

Previous to 2009 maybe. Wake up. I know it will kill you to give the guy some credit but JS has matured into a smart racer. Did you even watch or listen to the race?

Boy, that's a pretty damning statement about the quality of the posts in the moto section. But, yeah, it's been trending toward agenda posting rather than smart benchracing for a couple years now.

Stewart will be damned if he does and damned if he doesn't: if he goes old-Stewart wfo he's a loose cannon waiting to wad it up; if he backs it down it's the beginning of the end.

Dungey making a statement was soo awesome. And it's really good to see so much of the top talent in the big class. I was thinking half way through the night that really the only guy missing from that group ready right now to make it more interesting is Pourcel.

I guess I'm a little mystified why the Kawi team seems to be struggling a bit; lap times didn't seem to be up there throughout the day, but maybe that's because expectations on Reed and RV have been so high.

The Suzuki looked like the best set up bike on the track, but maybe the way Dungey rides it makes it look that way. Or maybe how well it's set up makes Dungey looks so good. Or both.

Great to see Langston have an uneventful night and make a great first step back into racing. Great to see Tedesco on the gas so early on in the new ride. Hope Grant can healthy quickly, Short and WIndham pick up some more speed, and RV start moving forward. Awesome kickoff to the season; could only have been better if Reed finished.

As a Minnesotan and a District 23 racer, I'm as big a Dungey fan as anyone. Yes, he will no doubt get faster. But, to think that Stewart cannot and will not get faster as the season progresses is shortsighted.

Before the booth said anything last night, I was thinking to myself; Why does JS look like he is rolling around and not pushing?

I was also thinking; Wow, Dungey is ON IT!

It will be a fun season watching both Dungey and Stewart.

That is all, carry-on...

Agreed!!
After hearing about what most riders think about "keyboard racers" I've backed it way down...
That being said, threads like this, is what you get here at Vital...What do you expect when most guys on here don't ride??

Exactly.

Wasn't this place suppose to get better when the racing started?
