Based on MXON & AUS-X do you still think Webb will win a race in 2017?

It's safe to say that the Webb we saw in the second half of the nationals and at the MXGP is not the same Webb that we saw at MXON and again in Austrailia. I was on the fence in Charlotte watching Webb's 2nd moto assault on Herlings and it was mightily impressive. He looks much more tame on the 450 thus far. Do you just chalk it up to time off the bike and the off season prep? I see why he chose not to race Monster Cup now, he's not ready yet. Should he be worried about not cracking the top half of the field at A1?... These guys legitimately only have about 7, maybe 8 weeks (depending on how they spend Christmas to New Years) of testing left when you look at the calender.

Just for perspective, don't forget how deep the 450 class is for 2017...If 90% of these guys show up healthy at A1, a Top 7 would put you in very fast company with former 450 race winners...

-Roczen
-Dungey
-Tomac
-Musquin
-Anderson
-Canard
-Seeley
-Barcia
-Reed
-Stewart
-Stewart
-Millsaps
-Baggett
-Alessi
-Brayton
-Bogle
-Peick
-Wilson
-Grant

He should do good. Some podiums definitely
Winning is a damn hard task for anyone not named Dungey roczen or tomac...

Yes.

We still have 2 more months to go until A1. Coop ( if he stays healthy ) will probably get a bit faster. That kid is really good at staying pretty consistent too. 17 rounds....I'd say he'll get a win or two....maybe more , never know.

I don't think he will win a race next year. But that's not based whatsoever on his results from MXON or AUS-X. While those races are definitely cool, I don't place too much on them as indicators of the SX or MX season here. That being said, I see Webb winning a lot of races before his career is over.

You hit it on the head. It's going to be hard to beat those 3. I see them all at their best-ever versions this coming year...

The Webb that was getting beat at the beginning of the Nationals was not the same confident, somewhat cocky and unstoppable Webb he is known to be. He was dealing with the wrist and he was vulnerable. I'm just not convinced this 450 transition will be a cakewalk for him like it was for say, Dungey. I think we will see him struggle at first and then come into his stride by Outdoors. I've been wrong before though... He could pull an Anderson and win A1.

The difference between 250 and 450 is huge.

It's going to be tough in 2017. A win possibly, a championship not likely.

His capability to adapt and get better was very present st aus X. Major improvement

I feel that will be that case with coops. Come mid season he will be a lot better!

Well if you base it on previous results than no since Dungey won like every race last year..

On a serious note though I don't think he has what it takes to beat Roczen, Dungey and Tomac straight up, yet. But there's 17 rounds and there is always a chance he can win one of them if others make a mistake.

I think if we have Cooper in 1st , with Roczen , RD and Eli behind him , there is a good chance that they'll chew him up and spit him out. I do think he has a chance at a win or two though depending on where those other guys are at. Cooper can get pretty aggressive too , so catching him and getting around him are two different things. He's a pretty good starter , so my crystal ball says we'll see some fireworks this year.

True. Webb is a small guy and that is a full factory Yamaha 450. If he can lock down a repeatable start pattern, I could see him holeshotting a lot of races this coming year.

OZ SX isn't really a good indication. There was next to nothing to separate anybody. No disrespect but on what other supercross track would you expect to see Enticknap and Reed/Villopoto on the same second? If Webb had holeshot he probably would've won, same goes for Brayton.

Nobody really knows how he will fare, If im Coop I'd be hoping for a consistent year, start battling with Tickle, Peick, Bogle. If he stays healthy by the end he could be in the Seely, Musquin, Reed group and land on a podium or two. That would be a success in my books.

If all of that talent shows up healthy Webb will not win a main. Maybe some qualifiers.

I would put him 4th to 7th to start. Then 2nd to 5th after a few rounds. With a chance to win before the season is over.

I didnt think he would win a race in 2017 but I think after he gets some time in the 450 class he will be a top contender in 2018

I don't think he'll win this year but we'll see. I think Marvin is a really good wildcard for wins in 2017, dude looks strong!

A good night for him would be cracking the top 10 or not having to do a Semi or LCQ to qualify.

I think Webb is just Racing for fun at the moment. When the season starts he will be winning.

wow I would think hes in a chance to win a main event or two, def a few podiums and most def a top 7 guy each round

I do agree with other posters about MM being a real threat for 2017 SX season

They said Dungey wouldn't win a race his first season on a 450, and he went and won the Championship, I wouldn't count Webb out at all, he will be a top contender.

I have him like this^^^^^ Just like every graduating lites rider before him save for MC, he has to learn the bike and setting it up, the power and the class. And develop his man strength. Even Roczen and more so Eli still haven't got it fully figured out yet consistently for SX. Marvin is another example who I'm expecting a lot from this year.

To even consider an Arenacross like the Sydney SX as a potential indicator of coming performances is just that bit Whistling .

And, he did well at the MXDN - but, of course, if it's not a 1:1 for some, it's just not good enough.

I'm no fan boi of any rider, especially this young bloke, but he's in among a whole bunch of other riders next year, that are not squids.

Should be a good set of races - as always, I just hope the riders get through the season in one piece - SX eats it's young (and old).

Look at Cole Seelys rookie year. Started very slow bottom half of the field. Ended with podiums and a win. Webb will be just fine.
