I agree this restarting every time someone jumps a start is garbage.

I disagree. Riders on both sides of the box jumped. In addition, this is a recurring deal. Obviously it's an issue with gate

I only saw the replays they showed on TV, but I thought he jumped the gun on that one. Hell, even my wife thought he did too. I couldn't tell if he made everyone else jump or the gate flinched.

I agree. When multiple rider flinch, theres an issue. Not BB4's fault.

Haha, good one.

Looked like all three riders went simultaneously. Perhaps that section of gate moved. Was it right next to dog house? That would explain it.

This may shock some people, but we can't always see everything from our couch. I know it sounds crazy.

I think he was pretty close so you might be correct! I did notice the guys on the other side spin some, but no one else hit the gate. It seemed like he went so early. I'm sure the video will surface online soonDizzy

look closer, that gate moves. thats why everyone jumped. the slowmo clip wasn't rewound far enough to catch it...

and just about every bike jumped....just baggett didn't layup.

Problem is in a dog house, with a lever.

Agreed, gate definitely flinched. You can see it in super slow mo. As others have said, riders flinched on both sides of the doghouse. Definite reason for red flag and red start.

NFW that was gate malfunction. They held the gate extra long and a few got inpatient. I know it's hard to believe around here but it's as simple as that.

This thread title sounds like a childrens book involving a loaf of French bread and something that should stop happening. Partially right?

BS...you can see the guy in the doghouse jerk a split second, it wasn't smooth. Bunch of riders don't coincidentally drop the clutch at the same time for no reason

I don't know what the deal is with the gates this year. Has this always happened and people just got screwed? No red flag? Or are we somehow getting less effective with our starts? I thought that was all on Blake at first, but when guys on both sides go, it clearly wasn't rider error.

its 2016, live timing via wireless buried sensor lines and they cant get a mechanical gate to function properly repeatedly?

I re-watched that about 4 times to see if I could see something , and yeah I finally did. It looked like it vibrated just slightly right when Blake dumped the clutch. Also , what we see , wouldn't be what the riders see , which is the pin or the inner bar on the gate. I saw guys jump on both sides , which tells me something was up.

"The gate malfunctioned and it didn't drop".....Yeah right! That's what happens when your front wheel is underneath it.

I have not seen the gate malfunction once this year. Every time they've said it malfunctioned, I have slowed it down frame by frame and you can clearly see the riders wrongly anticipate the gate drop and stuff their front wheel under it. Then the gate drops for all the guys who DIDN"T jump it. A bunch of top west coast 250's have gotten a mulligan. Then a bunch of top east coast 250's got a mulligan. Now Bagget on a 450 gets a mulligan. I can only guess what Bagget was thinking when they red flagged it. "They're red flaggin it? For me? Really? Ok, yeah, that'll work. Thank you!"

Another thing, if the gate malfunctioned each of those times....why didn't they actually do something to "fix" it? You see them kickin dirt around, moving small rocks and lifting the gate up and dropping it just to make sure it's still dropping...which it always is. Then the gate is magically fixed and ready for the restart!

Almost forgot....In my opinion....just sayin

Yes! Also if a guy hits the gate... It will flinch, no need for a restart!

I can't recall a season with more restarts than this one. Fix that piece of shit gate.

Ya'll need to get some glasses. Look at the panels on each gate. It is hard to tell in slowmo, but every reflection on each panel down the line shook like AC/DC and Eddie Money just before all those dudes jumped.
