I'm thinking sitting in 4th place points in your rookie 450 outdoor year is pretty bad ass!

I agree, Anderson isn't doing too bad either, seely has a future in SX,and Wilson I think would have been up there too, only time will tell with him.

The 450 class is going to get pretty exciting with some of the kids moving up soon, Martin, Webb, Boggle, Marvin, etc.

Those 4 rookies have shown top 5 speeds in both outdoors and SX:

Wins

Cole Seely 1
Blake Baggett 0
Jason Anderson 0
Dean Wilson 0

Podiums

Blake Baggett 5
Jason Anderson 5
Cole Seely 5
Dean Wilson 0

Top 5

Blake Baggett 16
Cole Seely 13
Jason Anderson 10
Dean Wilson 1

SX and MX points combined

Blake Baggett 556
Jason Anderson 483
Cole Seely 381
Dean Wilson 71

Number of points by races (I only count the one they actually race)

Blake Baggett scored about 14.63 points by races. That means that his average place is 6/7.

Cole Seely: Points per race: 15.24. AVG place: 5/6.

Jason Anderson: Points per race: 13.42. AVG place: 7/8.

Dean Wilson: Points per race: 10.14. AVG place: 10/11.

BB has been Stella in 15 IMO, I've got to say that I had Deano down as being the top rookie but we all know how that worked out the poor kid but hey oh that's racing.

Baggett has done petty much what I said and expected, podiums here and there, strict racing and consistent performer inside top ten. Great year, 2016 step up year? Can he pull a win off? Well with JS in his stable anythings possible but I see next year being a lot harder than this year for all concerned.

I'm not a rookie and 4th in points, but that sounds good to me any day of the week!

Definitely a great year for BB. I think he will be a little better next year. I am not sure about a win next year, but I would not be surprised if he doubles the number of podiums to 10 for next year.

Excellent stats Dragon.

The only thing that you can count on is injuries thinning the field out a bit - sad but true

This 450 rookie stuff is so ridiculous. You guys make it out as if they have never been to a pro race before.

Yea you're right, there's no added difficulty moving up to the premier class.Just like the kid that just rode his first pro race at Utah after moving up from Loretta's shouldn't have felt any new and extra nerves right? Go piss on someone elses thread, this is a positive thing,

I think that's what makes mx/sx so exciting, seeing who can avoid injuries throughout the season. We all know that if Tomacand Seeley would've stayed healthy then the 450 class would have ended differently in some fashion.

Dunno. I expected him to challenge for a win at some point (based on mind blowing rides he's had in the prior 4 years, and how well Roczen and Tomac did last year), but that hasn't happened. His SX results were more impressive to be honest.

Romain Febvre say no more!!!!!
Not to be harsh on Romain butt...

If Tomac (We know he has), Dungey, Roczen and Barcia all crashed out of this years American motocross championship, Baggett would be exatley where Romain is right now after

Cairolli, Desalle, Nagal and Villopoto crashed out of the MXGP championship.....

Again nothing against Romain, he has taken full advantage of the position he put himself in and will be crowned a worth champion (Well he should win it form here), he will go down as the best rider over the course of 17 races this year in the MXGP series.

Although it may have been a stretch for Romain to win the championship without the others getting injured, I still reckon we would have won most of the races he has won (which he started doing whilst the main comp was still healthy), whereas Baggett hasn't looked like he can win a race.

Fair point, looking back at the results, Romain was around the pace of the top four before they were injured and was able to win races with Cairoli and Nagl still racing.

As I said a worthy champion as all riders who finish the year at the top of the standings are no matter what.

Hopefully Baggett can break out and pick up some wins in the 450 class in 2016.

The kids from lorrettas and any rookie in the 250 class for sure but all the 450 "rookies" have been at this for 5 years or more, they have raced the top 450 guys at some point and it's not as if they have never rode a 450 before or haven't been around long enough to know the program/grind in the 450 class. I'm sorry but with Seely having 14 sx races under his belt, Anderson winning a regional title and Baggett/Wilson winning national titles, there is nothing rookie about them. It's not a case of knocking them, just don't find them rookies of any sort.

IMO Bagget wouldn't have been a bad MXDN pick.

All of the rookies had a hell of year. As far BB4, I hope he finds his magic from 2012. His lap times late in the moto were amazing.

If Blake can approve his starts he's a legitimate MX title contender. Idk he's always had bad starts though...
8/20/2015 5:39am
Blake was great indoors too. I think we've all judged him based on the few post-wrist injury years and he was wobbly and inconsistent. He's done exactly the opposite of Barcia in moving up: Barcia struggled to adapt his style while it seemed to suit Blake well and his results and consistency improved. I think we haven't found his ceiling yet. He could be a player, something I wouldn't have guessed last year.
