it seems like the guy has dropped off the face of the SX/MX earth, anyone have any idea what he is up to, if he is still employed at Star/Valli, or if he will be at any of the Nationals? always liked his style on and off the track.

Hes a very very talented rider and IMO if he wasn't on that rodbox yzf he would be easy top 5 450

there was an update just last week he was at south of the border (SC) training getting ready for the nationals.

The team is supposed to be moving Izzi and Sipes up to the 450s outdoors. They should drop Stroupe back down to the 250s, the bikes are sitting there and Austin has had a ton of crashes on the 450. I could see him getting a couple podiums in the 250s, doubt he will finish both motos very often on the 450.

I highly doubt that one. He didn't do much while he was at PC the first time.

Sroupe came into the pros with alot of promise, and a contract with Mitch Payton.
Shared the Horizon Award (Loretta Lynns) with another rider as the best amatuer prospect to hit the pros.
He jumped on the scene around the same year as Jason Lawrence.
Both have had many OFF the track issues.
At least Lawrence has a championship for his efforts.
My prediction is Stroupe won't be around much longer, and wont' be a factor in the races he does show up for.

I always thought Stroupe looked fking ridiculously fast on his rmz 250 in supercross. I still remember watching him do an on-off section at salt lake or something and thing. "Wow, wtf is that kid smoking?!?"

If I had the money to back the kid I would in a sec.

The expectations for him were high and he didn't live up to standards. Even while at Suzuki. He's one of my favorite riders, and it sucks not seeing him ride. So no bashing from me.

Dude if you're going to bag him at least get you're facts straight..
- He did not share the horizon award with anyone. Trey Canard won it the year Stroupe turned pro. The only time it has been shared was the following year, with Larson and Durham.
- Stroupe turned pro the end of 2007 (Steel City). Lawrence turned pro 2005.

But yeah, what the hell is up with Stroupe? Dude could haul when he was on. Not many riders finished in the top 2 in their first professional moto..

He is back in North Carolina working with his Dad. I think his Father owns a restaurant? I hear he is done with racing and is happy with what he's doing? I'm not sure how anyone could be happy in that business?

Guess the pressure just crushes some guys.

Stroupe was released from Vali/Rockstar/Yamaha.
There has been sightings of him racing back east locally.

This video was made about a month ago with stroupe riding down in texas. Where he was training for Hangtown

Maybe therein lies the real problem with Stroupe, it has been suggested on the pulpmx show before.

I would love to see him back out there. He has the talent and speed and can still do it. Has to get healthy and injury free.

I like the idea someone said about putting him on Wilson's bike.

iv heard 2 diff. things, one he cant get away from his habits, and 2 he couldnt pass a concussion test witch the ama requires now and if u cant pass u cant race, from the past im going to go with #1
