His shoulder is still bothering him. The team felt it was necessary for him to sit out and get ready for Phoenix. Still looked really good out there.

They sent this PR out Saturday

Austin Stroupe at Anaheim One

CORONA, Calif., (Jan. 8, 2011) – Valli Motorsports Rockstar/Yamaha Team rider Austin Stroupe will ride practice tonight at Angel Stadium of Anaheim during the opening round of the 2011 AMA Supercross Championship and then he and the team will determine if he is ready to race.

Stroupe, who sustained a serious shoulder injury requiring surgery and extensive rehabilitation at the Houston round of the 2010 AMA Supercross Championship has only been riding a short time and may not yet be prepared to race a 20-lap main event.

20 year-old Stroupe joins the Valli Motorsports Rockstar/Yamaha Team for his first full season in the premier class. He surprised the field last year with good starts and laps led on a 450 while substituting for an injured teammate at a few of the opening rounds of the 2010 AMA Supercross Championship. During Lites East Supercross Stroupe finished on the podium every round of the series except one due to a fall before being injured while second in series points. He was forced to miss the AMA Pro Motocross Championship Series due to the shoulder injury.

They want him in for the long haul, not to come in and flame out early.

I don't know that one week would make him ready for Pheonix if he couldn't race A1.

I hope he'll be ready soon and also in for the long haul.

so did they give his qualifying spot to another rider? just curious as j-law was ripped to shreds last year for doing the same thing.

Almost a year of healing and rehab and he was still not able to properly prepare. Thats a gnarly injury. Hope he can start his pre season training soon or else wait for the outdoors.

He should take a few pain killers and ride! In the Old days guys rode hurt.

Doug Henry would be pounding out laps.

Yeah they did which kind of made it confusing because he never showed up as a DNS.

truthfully its not a smart choice cause in the long run its gonna turn out worse. I dislocated my shoulder and told my dad to pop it back in and kept riding now my shoulder pops out from and type of force. he needs to let it heal up 100% as to not have any problem in the future.
