I'm in the same boat, between sizes. I got the L about 5-6 years ago and need to replace them. They were always too tight and I think if you had them a little larger there is room to take them up. I'm going XL this time around.

Best bet is to go into a shop and try them on, even if you are buying them online
I'm tempted, but trying to avoid being an asshole... this time.

Are you getting a pair or just 1? If you are getting a pair make sure you measure both your knees if you are that close in sizing one may be on the big side and the other may fit perfect.
