Hey you guys that have the older 2-piece back Asterisk Cell brace:

I called Asterisk to find out if I could send mine back to be rebuilt and the lady at Asterisk told me that the deadline to have your old-style braces rebuilt is the end of March ! I had no idea they were gonna discontinue that and it was pure luck I called just now and found that out. After that, they will no longer be refurbishing the older braces.

So if you have been wanting to get yours redone, you might want to call Asterisk and get your RA Number and send 'em in while you can.

Last pair I had done was $150. That happened about the time of the change, buyout/sellout whatever it was. I decided after that rebuild to wear them out again and just replace them next time, which is now. The rebuild worked well. The braces have had many blows to the main frame, the red part, and are showing cracks and fatigue. Very good braces, I hope * continues to offer quality products at a reasonable price to the public.

Sorry late to get back to you. The cost is $200 and that includes the shipping back to you. From what I understand they replace everything but the red frames. I sent mine in this morning.

Does anybody know if you can still purchase the rebuild kit or the cable that stops them from hyper extending?

Does anything get "upgraded" to new specs or just refreshed/new parts?

What is the turnaround timeframe?

I dont think anything gets upgraded, just refurb of the brace as it was sold originally.

They told me 2 days turnaround.

I got mine done a year or two ago. I've had my braces since around 1999 so they've been around the track a few times, so to speak. I love them and plan to just purchase a new pair when my "new" ones break or whatever. Great product and great customer service from that company.

Call Asterisk yourself. They have a 800 number, its posted at the top of this thread. I called again to double check, and she said after April 1 they are not taking any more braces in for rebuilding and will no longer be making/selling the oldder lace-up backs. If Im in error Id appreciate someone from Asterisk logging on and clarifying.
