If sponsorship investment, (ROI =return on investment), is measured in the collum inches, thread's a rider generates on line and in mags, TV etc., then many would say James is doing a good job for Joe Gibbs Racing, keeping them in the spotlight..
However lately there seem's to be a back lash from his loyal fans who are claiming his poor results and crashes are down to his bike design and set-up!
Is this now having a negative impact on JGR?, as to an many uneducated outsider's, it would look like JGR don't know what they are doing!
Do you think JGR signing Stewart has been a smart move by them and do you see it working out in the long run?

First mistake was holding a press conference where Stewart states he's gonna bring Gibbs the elusive championship they've been seeking and has his sights set on McGraths win record.. Bold prediction that looks very dim at the moment..
The Shop
My 12 and 10 year old have been watching every race with me this year. They've really become SX fans and I'm happy about that. But you know one comment that comes up each week unsolicited from my guys is???
"Which lap will Stewart crash out on?"
Think about this for a second... 2 young guys that don't read all the stuff on here have made their own observations by watching the races each week. They are not a part of the bantering online, but simply made their own assessments.
So, JS7 is a know rider to them, but he also has a reputaion with them. Good press vs bad press...is any press, no matter what, good for JGR and their sponsors?
If you drove a Toyota to the race you got to park in the Toyota parking area. The gift bag had a pair of JGR/ Toyota trucks socks.
Yes, socks.
No they are getting the short end of the stick on this deal, I'm sure those are some hard checks to write for JGR even when JS7 just walks away and leaves the bike on the side of the track.
1. Fizzle out completely next year. No wins. Maybe a nagging injury.
2. Go to NASCAR. Run a year of some bullshit K&N regional series for a Gibbs subsidiary team, and do absolutely horrible.
3. Disappear for a year. No racing, No reality T.V.
4. Let the fickle mob known as the internet forget all about him while RV continues to steal the spotlight.
5. Come back in about 2015 at about 31 years old and completely re-revolutionize the sport, purely for the love of MX. Retire at Glen Helen with a #1 plate in his hand, standing next to Ciancurulo who will have just won the Lites outdoor title.
Bonus - Somewhere in the distance, McGrath does a nac-nac on a twostroke while Skip Norfolk looks on with his clear lensed Oakleys.
I'm not his biggest fan but I've always been in awe of the incredible way the guy can ride a motorcycle and its actually quite sad to see him struggling right now - even if it is partially his own doing. I just don't want the rider who has made one of the biggest impacts in our sport in recent times simply fade away.
Pit Row
My company is about to purchase about a dozen cameras for recording outdoor military training exercises. My boss asks me, "got any suggestions on the camera?" They were just going to go get some Sonys from best buy, but were worried about durability and outdoor video quality.
I pulled up the Houston JS7 crash vid, GoPo and then the link to where they are $299 at Target.
Purchased 12 of them about 4 minutes later.
All this talk has come from places like this that are filled with 99.9% bullshit and morons talking out their ass. The team has never said a bad word about the bikes, it's all come from outside, so your little theory about "people are believing them" is a complete fail.
Did Factory Honda get a "good return on their investment" over the years with:
Davi Milsaps
Andrew Short
Josh Grant
Trey Canard
How about factory Yamaha with Josh Hill?
How about Suzuki with Alessi?
How about Kawasaki with Reed?
KTM with short?
KTM with Alessi?
The list goes on and on and on.
This is a sport where shit happens and it happens at almost every race.
Of the top guys who started this season, there is only one still standing. RV. You can make the argument that the only team getting a good ROI is Kawasaki with RV.
Like Reed said "if this stuff was easy, the computards would be doing it." He was speaking directly to the guys in this thread.
