I usually spray my boots off when I wash my bike after a day of riding. But I've never cleaned the inside, and since I've had them it seems dust/dirt works its way inside my boots and builds up. I've got the bulk of the dirt out of my boots, but still look brown inside. Would it work to put them upside down in the dishwasher to spray the inside? Would the heat cause any problems with them?

Also, same question with my helmet. I wipe the heavies off but sometimes its hard to get the dirt inside the edges and inside of my helmet. I take the foam out and throw it in the wash. Is there any reason I cant throw then helmet in the dishwash without the foam inserts?

I personally wouldn't do either. I just powerwash the inside of my boots a couple times a year and the shell of my helmet when it gets really dirty. You shouldn't have to dish wash the helmet at all, that's an easy clean.

I have however put goggles without the lens on the top rack of the dishwasher to clean the foam and strap!!

you can wash the liner in the washing machine.

Otherwise just spray the inside of your boots/helmet like suggested or just put soapy water in and scrub with your hand.

I've been drinking and it sounded like a good idea lol. I have the liner of my helmet soaking in the sink with the rest of my gear. I guess i'll have to hand wash the inside of my boots and helmet.

I soak my pants, jersey, and gloves in the sink in water with 2 scoops of oxy clean, but can never get the white parts white again. They are usually a little brown still after I pull them out of the washer. Any tips?

No but I do pre-cook a few racks of baby back ribs on hot/rinse in the dishwasher before I put them on the grill.

Tip of the week :
Toss a little simple green in the machine when you wash your gear. Comes out looking like new and smells fresh.
Wash helmet liner with shampoo, remove helmet and instant Fabio.

On a serious note, I always take my helmet in the shower with me and use shampoo to wash the liner... no really.

Yes, as soon as I unzip my gear bag, and it says "hello" to me, I know it's time.

Nope, I rent my house and it came with a dishwasher :D. My GF thinks its a good idea because I will probably throw in some dishes around them, its her idea of getting me to do the dishes!

I wash my helmet, liner, goggles and chest protector in the shower. I don't use shampoo though, just soap and water. Then just let em drain in the tub. Everything dries out within 8 hours or so.

I sometimes roll my bike into the shower when it's really muddy. That way I don't get the driveway all dirty. Plus the hot water gets it really clean.
