Yeah, no way a 350 would run with a 450. Damn Roczen must have been on a 650 last year at the MXdN in Colorado when at 6000 foot elevation on the side of a mountain he damn near sucked the graphics off of Shorts factory Honda 450 as he blew past him. No way that could have been a 250.

maybe because Rocks is twice as fast as Shorty? All I am saying is IF you watched the race his bike looks just as fast as Dungeys and if you can't see it well maybe you need glasses! For the 100 th time I guess Short and Alessi just forgot how to ride? How many podiums to Shorty get this year before he got hurt? How many did he get last year? Ok forget that how many top 5's?
What is the displacement then? And how is it illegal?

Get over it, it's a 350 and Cairoli just rides the freaking wheels off it!

The KTM execs are laughing right now. The ultimate compliment and validation to building the 350, is having people post that the bike "must be a 450"..... Grinning

EXACTLY!!!

if you are stood at the side of the track, you can see/ hear that the bike is a 350, hence why he takes different lines everywhere! cairoli looked good today to say he has been off the bike for a couple of weeks- he should be even better tomorrow. Got to respect toni for racing this weekend after the death of his mother- hope he can win, sure it will be very emotional for him if he can do it!

^ this

Not riding a bike since Gaildorf two weeks ago, going 2nd in practice and 2nd in qualifying wasn't bad at all.

He can't be 100% mentally, but he rode well and it's great to see him out there!

Ok, I'll say it....Tony is a very fast dirt scooter rider. He did beat RV a couple years ago in, I think France or somethin....he is a multi time world champ on a 350. Yes, the 350 is closer in design to a 250 but what u aren't getting is that these are factory bikes. Don't most factories DETUNE 450s? If so, if you TUNED a 350 wouldn't they be super close? No matter what you thinkg a 350, despite being similar in design is NOT a 250. Also, does a stock ktm 450 produce like 53 hp where all the others are 47-51? So why couldnt the 350 stock be like 47-50? All my vet buddies that ride 350s have no probs clearing jumps the 450s clear........power advatage....450....weight advantage ....350.....they gotta be pretty damned close. At Thunder Valley last year it was clear that TC's bike was not handling like Dungey's. TC one the quali when the track was silky smooth. Dungey smoked him when it got rough. U could see TC's bike all over the place in the whoops.....Dungeys went in a straight line........TC wouldn't be racing a 350 if it was that much slower....

No one is detuning 450's, especially outdoors.

This is correct. He continued to rail the outside lines so the motor was less dragged down.

I watched it again...yeah he was taking different lines it looked like to keep his momentum up...At the MXDN last year alot of people said his bike sounded deeper than a 350....This (dumb) thread wasnt about AC, I really like the guy....I just think his bike is just a little bigger than a 350.....but what does a cracker know? Ok please dont answer that!

Exceptionally profound statement!

Really tho... Cairoli hasn't gotten all good starts this year... and the euros don't rip all their start straights... BUT... He is far and away the class of that field so can make it up...

Alessi and Short have never dominated shit so them being 5th on back on that bike with crappy starts on deep dirt is no suprise to me at all...

Is it possible Cairoli's bike puts out more HP?! Yes, but he'd still win if he was or wasn't... he was winning before...

Hey Triplefive, does your avatar suggest that the number 13 has a more significant meaning to you than simply being the two digits on the back of an Italian motocross rider's jersey; albeit, a damn good Italian motocross rider?

Or am I reading far too much into it?

Yep Caroli's 350 is really a 450 and KTM is lying to us, hang on a sec what about all those people that say KTM dont have a good 450 for Dungey to race next year ?

If that bike of Caroli's is a 450 and he ran with Dungey all moto i think Dungey is fine next season, But Im one of those Crack smokers and belive that the number 13 machine is a 350 through and through, Imagine what KTM can do when that add 100cc to that same bike!

Do you need to have an air tank to get them to work? That was the case when Renault brought the technology to its F1 cars.
