My first bike was an 1980 MX80. I can't imagine how many hours I put on that thing.

My first ride back in 1972. Wish dad wouldn't have sold that thing.

That's what i had, too, except mine was orange. From there, I moved to a '74 (maybe '76) Yamaha GT80, and then to an '82 RM80.

Mine too, '80 or '81. It was my first bike I didn't have to share with my older brother(that was a QA50).

My very first, true to life dirt bike ever. 1973 Yamaha MX100. Bought it used in like new condition for $300.00. Oil injected, never had to premix the fuel.

my brother got that bike, and I got the 125 elsinore, was an amazing time to ride dirt bikes.

I remember the power band on that thing didn't seem to start until about 10 grand and then started screaming forever..

His pop's was with him, could believe somebody my size on a 250 CZ, on the line with the amateurs. I go watch the race after it starts and there that little kid dicing it out with two other for the win ! ! ! ! Later learned his name, Danny Chandler, he had a reputation in nor-cal - California Wild Child was the nickname locally.

Yeah it fouled a plug or two when you'd never ridden a two-stroke with power !

Thanks for the memories all, first time I typed that story, first race I still remember it pretty clear.

I remember those bikes very well. That downswept pipe from the right rear shock back resembles the 30mm chain gun barrel under the nose of an apache helicopter. Very cool!

I had my first success on one when I was 14 and I was hooked on off-road.
Mine had Koni shocks and I put white Preston Petty fenders and a weird but relatively quite round X-Duser? silencer/spark arester.
Never failed to finish an enduro or hare scramble on that thing.
Hey h-amp-m-cycle, I was born right across the river from Steubenville, in Weirton, WV.
We moved to TX when I was 8 and been here ever since.

72 HT-1MX for my first bike. Rode the wheels off of it and wore the motor out 3 times.
