I have about 3 or 4 helmets that aren't suitable for riding anymore. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do with them other than throw them away? I guess that would be the easiest solution but I figured that there is a painter that wants them for practice or costume re purpose or something out there. I don't know why I feel odd throwing a helmet in the garbage.

My buddies and I may, or may not, have used one of my old helmets to take turns hitting each other with fluorescent light bulbs. A few beverages were consumedWhistling

Cut them in half, front to back. Mount one of the halfs on a plaque with an inscription of when, where and what the helmet did. And hang it on the wall.

Me? I just throw em away.

Me too. A kid on a bmx bike can feel like a real racer for a while.

About 20 years ago, I saw someone cut one of their custom painted helmets from front to back, drilled a hole around where the ear would go and then buy a clock kit (from a craftstore) and turn the two halves into two wall mounted clocks. It looked pretty cool actually and was custom moto-x memorabilia.

Since they are made of the same thing as a 7eleven 3 dollar cooler ( at nascar races they are called "suicide coolers" because they bust about the time you reach the stands) throw some ice in one and a few cans of brew. Use the strap to hang it on your waist.

New ones are just as good since they aint changed.

Ask Chad Reed to wear each helmet. Take pictures to verify this historical moment. Ebay helmets.

I give them to the local thrift shop if they are at all useable.

I built some shelves in between the cabinets that hang above my workbench and used them to display some of my old helmets.
