Was it the dreaded arm pump again?

Maybe we'll see some mushroom clouds on his butt patch next round!

Idk what to think any more with Eli. I would like to think he will get back to race winning form but everyone is riding so well. I think a lot of guys on here have it right, Eli is physically in shape but since he works solo he hasn't been pushed to a higher level like the others. Guess time will tell.

I'm a huge Tomac fan. His inconsistency and non performance is absolutely killing me. Get up there man.

Nothing new here. His beast mode rides seem like anomalies. Those rides clouded a lot of people's judgement up until recently.

After the 3d round one would expect they have the bike setup good enough if that's the problem. It was just a little ironic to see the training bit with his dad.

I'm surprised nothing in print so far on his San Diego ride. Maybe because of the holiday?

Does his contract end this year....wonder if any other brand will make a run for him. Maybe the Kaw just doesn't fit his riding style.

I echo that exactly. At least for his prides sake and nothing else, get it together!! Regardless of the performance issues, I am still a fan and will always be. I'll be in ATL pulling for him.

if it is setup then it is not as though they had a brand new bike to deal with, they had the off season to get it setup if it wasnt already...

Yeah, but they never really seem to know until they line up with their peers on a full gate. Testing is testing, racing is racing. I don't really think it's the bike anyhoo but if it has been ... they should be dialed by next weekend.

If he was on Kenny's bike we would be having a different discussion.

It would probably be: "Why is Eli on Kenny's bike?"

Hasn't Tomac always been more of an outdoor kick ass guy? Is his sx performance really that far off of norm?

He looked pretty dominant against Kenny in their last year on 250s, and beat Kenny straight up a couple times on his last year on the CRF.

Outdoors is where tomac shines, SX has always seem like a struggle. Would be cool to see how many outdoor vs. SX wins he has.

I could see Tomac going to KTM if Dungey is done at the end of this year. They tried hard to get Webb so they must have some extra money.

250 SX:
11 (2 in 2011, 4 in 2012, 5 in 2013)

250 MX:
12 (1 in 2010, 4 in 2012, 7 in 2013)

450 SX:
4 Wins (3 in 2015, 1 2016)

450 MX:
5 National Wins (1 in 2014, 2 in 2015, 2 in 2016) + 2 GPs

He does have more outdoor wins than SX, but it is close.

Maybe his aggression and grit don't work so well on the 450. Roczen and even Dungey are more technical precise riders. So the 450 works better for them. Who knows but kinda makes sense.

same here, Tomac on Orange under Baker and DeCoster....could be a match in heaven for him. I would actually say at the expense of Canard than dungey...I did think Dungey would finish in 2017 but now I am not so sure...depends on his family priorities I guess

Some guys thrive on pressure...some guys implode. Perhaps Eli is an imploder.

Same here man. I know he's trying hard, but he's losing focus or something. At San Diego he was missing rhythms left and right. It was hard for me to watch.

He'd also disagree that the KX450F is Eli's problem, but that doesn't stop a handful of people from claiming so. The bike isn't the problem.

Maybe his training isn't what it should be?
http://www.trainingscience.net/?page_id=108

Turns out lactate is a good thing and nobody goes "aneorobic".
While interesting, the self admitted biased article, has only 2 references to actual data that are not considered strong evidence.

Personally, I think Tomac's main hurdle is mental, which is producing anxiety, tight riding, and arm pump. Also, maybe he just isnt as fast as Roczen and Dungey, indoors at least. If Tomac can get his mojo back, come outdoors, I think we see a different Tomac next year in supercross (all things being equal, like no big changes).

Appears Tomac is an outdoor type of guy, you know, rough, physical, fast outdoor tracks, nothing wrong with that, SX is a freak show...
