Josh Grant Out for Glen Helen

Racer X has learned that GEICO Powersports' Honda's Josh Grant will sit out the opening round of the 2008 AMA Toyota Motocross Championships at Glen Helen Raceway this weekend as a result of the concussion he received during practice at the Las Vegas SX. Grant crashed in a rhythm section and was landed on by another rider, resulting in his sitting out the East/West Shootout later that evening. He is hoping to ride the Hangtown National, Round 2 of the series, but doesn't feel fit to ride yet. Stay tuned for more details as the race approaches.

I wonder how many riders will be "OUT" by the time Glen Helen rolls around?

Sometimes I think maybe these guys should stay off the bike right before the race, seems they get hurt 1 or 2 weeks before the Nationals start.

So Croom, you suggest he sit out one race to do a different one?
I understand Vegas isnt a points race, but it seems stupid to sit it out to race GH

No but I see so many riders get hurt 1 or 2 weeks before the race starts. Not 6 months before.

Stupid to sit out a race that means nothing, to be ready for the start of the outdoors?
Before the race even starts he is already down 50 points.

Glen Helen. If he got hurt in Vegas, and is now missing round one of the outdoors, it looks like a bad idea to have raced Vegas,

Some riders even have a clause in their contracts not to race unless it is a National or Supercross because they dont want their riders getting hurt at some local race.

He nutted himself 100 yards into the 1st practice at a non points race, sitting out wouldn't have helped him.

There is more wrong in Grants head then just a concussion.

This thread started out bad, and has gone downhill from there.

I heard second-hand that the rider who landed on Grant (I heard it was a KTM rider, but I'm not sure which one) didn't even look back to see how he was. Ouch. They red-flagged that practice.

What incentive did Stewart have to come back for Vegas? From the time of his surgery, the goal for him was always to come back for the outdoors. Even that is a fast turnaround.

Hepler's had a horrible string of luck. Here's hoping it gets better for him.

It seems like it would be in the lite's riders contracts to race at LV SX.

Doesn't make much sense to me either why they would want to ride a non points SX unless there was a large purse or show money or something

The rider that hit him was Goerke.... Grant went down, not even very hard, and was getting up, and Goerke came over the jump and actually rolled into him, don't think he landed on him. It snapped his body back the opposite direction...

Alessi, hepler, grant, langston, Stewie all hang it out from hanging off the back of the seat.

And so do the guy's who win the titles. They just happen to be lucky that their spills they roll out of and don't get too knicked up.

Hanging it out causes crashes and injuries. Show the kids some respect for their go for it attitudes.

Why show up anywhere and not do you're best? Vegas is a big event for everyone, riders and sponsors and fans and old heroes........points or no points.
