There are some inaccurate statements being made about US riders in the GPs. From posts in various threads today:
"...That said, the best American to pursue this title and win it in his first year is RV. " Danny LaPorte won the 250 World Title in 1982 in his first year.
"...there's never been a top line US rider to switch to the GPs,let alone the best of the best like RV," Brad Lackey was a top US rider. And had he remained in the US to race the Nationals, by most accounts would have been "the best of the best" and earned many championships.
I know the GPs have not been on the US radar since the late 70's, but there have been more than a few US riders, travel to Europe to race the GPs and for Championships. Before RV2 headed over.

Which is why, in more recet years, Osborne deserved more credit for flying the flag so well for you guys over here.
He may not have won many GPs but he did pretty damn well all things considered and he won a British National MX2 title, which isn't as easily achievable as some probably assume.
