Got to try out my new tech 10s today. I replaced my 4yr old Gaerne sg12s with the latest edition of the tech 10. I'm a long time supporter of the sg12 and I hate to say it but the alpinestars are the more comfortable boot. They are a little bulkier in the ankle and have a taller thicker sole but overall are much more plush. You can't go wrong with either boot, but I am glad I made the purchase so I could experience both.

My wife surprised me with a new pair after my sole was finally toast and I was going to glue them back last week. They lasted many many years. New inner boot is comfy.

Replaced your 4 year old sg12's, you will be lucky if you make it 4 months before you have to replace those shitty A-stars. Nice looking but A star quality is crap

The new buckle design is so much better.

Are those the Canard edition Tech10?
Yes canard edition from bto sports. I'm curious to see how these last. I have heard horror stories and I have heard the newest models last a lot longer. Time will tell. I have also heard customer service is great if I have any issues.

Very nice. My wife bought me a pair of Tech7 for Christmas. I previously had a pair of previous generation Tech7 for nearly four years and they held up great, so I wouldn't worry about durability. I don't know why people say they fall apart, they must drag their feet in corners. If your foot pegs are sharp, they will chew up any sole.

I hated the last pair of Tech-8s I had. Uncomfortable and fell apart. I now have a pair of SG10 and 12's.

Ive had a few pair of tech 10's after breaking my leg in some almost wellington type tech 4's . The new buckles are an improvement on the old type (defo when it comes to taking them off!). I had one pair for three years and they were still in good enough condition to sell on to a friend. Obviously as said above if you have sharp pegs theyll eat into any sole. Although the astars sole is replaceable so its not a major issue.
Never tried the sg12's but i know the tech10 have save my ankles a fair few times..Emjpy Smile

I hate to be "that" guy, but your pic is a prime example of the evolution of aesthetics in MX gear. I have no doubt the SG12's are great boots, but steel stips and sewn on soles? This ain't 1992 anymore.

Iv ran my A STARS tech 8s for 5 years now and haven't had a problem with them at all, still comfortable, everything is still in tact and works like it should, A Stars are some of best boots out there.

Exactly! That's the reason I never considered gaerne when it came time to buy new boots. The design looks like it's 20 years old. My decision was tech 10 vs fox instinct. Tech 10 won and they are amazing.

Those are a few reasons I prefer the Gaernes.

Same here, I've never liked the feel of the moulded sole boots. I tried a couple of different brands and ended up selling them.

the fox instincts feel like sneakers but you could but cardboard boxes on your feet and have them last longer. the new tech 10s and the new buckles are the way to go

I would say I have a pretty standard foot. Size 11 in Vans and athletic shoes. Size 10 in Gaerne and size 11 in Tech 10s. Tech 10s are the wider of the two.
